Rate My Space is a fantastic place to get ideas for nursery and kid’s room decor.  The site is part of HGTV and has hundreds, if not thousands, of nurseries and kids rooms decorated by people from around the world.

We were particularly inspired by Griffan’s baby boy room which is decorated in mocha (or brown), beiges, blues, and greens.  With a little wall paint, this mom created a warm, modern feeling nursery that looks like the work of a professional interior designer.

The walls in this nursery are the highlight.  The squares you see are painted on the wall. You can recreate this look by using a contemporary wall stencil approach.  Use tape of your chosen width to create the grid.  The brown-toned wall paint is Sherwin Williams Mocha.  Above the crib hang the peach, blue, and green wall letters from WalMart giving the nursery the personalization we love.  In the second photo, notice the creative, modern wall shelves in the shape of a wave adding some rounded corners like the white Japanese lanterns hanging from the ceiling – one of our favorite nursery decorating items!

As you can see, a little bit of wall paint can go along way.

Prayers for Anissa Mayhew

We have recently received word that popular mommy blogger Anissa Mayhew suffered a stroke on Tuesday afternoon and is in the ICU.  Anissa, 35, is a wife and mother of three in Atlanta. She began her blogging career three years ago when her youngest daughter Peyton, 5, was diagnosed with cancer.  As a way to vent and keep her sanity, she launched her first blog Hope 4 Peyton. 

Anissa is currently the leader of Aiming Low, a group of moms and bloggers celebrating the imperfection of life.

As bloggers and supporter of moms, we wanted to express our sympathies to Anissa and her family.  

Her friends are collecting money via PayPal to go towards gift cards to restaurants, movies, Blockbuster, etc. to help keep her kids’ occupied and gas/hotel gift cards for her extended family should you want to donate.

Please say your prayers for Anissa.

We always seem to find hidden gems from our friends in the north and CiCi Art Factory is a perfect example of that.  Canadian Liz Clay, the artist behind the delightful artwork of Cici Art Factory, says she owes her creative inspiration to her kids. And, we thought all that creativity was fueled by the Canadian spring water.

Cici Art Factory wants to push the boundaries of children’s room décor with inspiring and fresh paintings to help parents stimulate children’s imaginations and activate rooms with thought-provoking art.  And, that they do.
