We Ooh and Ah Over These Unique Baby Mobiles for Your Nursery

Lately baby mobiles have come back into vogue and there are so many unique takes that we wanted to share a few of our favorites that we think would look super cute with some of our most popular wall decals. However, be sure to keep the mobile well beyond baby’s reach as you do not want her to pull it down upon herself.

Baby Mobile for an Under the Sea Themed Nursery

We Under the Sea is a lovely theme as you can take it in many directions. Above is a more modern take on a baby mobile that incorporates an ocean themed nursery with a more modern bent. We love how the designer, JennaEBe13 on Etsy, used varying shades of blue to help create the sensation of the sea. To complete your themed nursery look, check out our Under the Sea wall decals. We have dolphins, octopus, fish, seaweed and more in a variety of colors and styles.

Baby Mobile for a Safari Themed Nursery

Baby Mobile for a Safari Themed Nursery

We would be remiss if we did not include a safari mobile for a classic jungle themed nursery, also from an Etsy designer. Designer CarrotFever aptly describes the mobile as inspired by simple Swedish design and her love for animals. A cute giraffe, monkey, zebra, lion, crocodile, and a tree with cute little falling leaves hang from cotton thread above your little one’s crib. Even better, her mobile animals are made from eco felt and stuffed firmly with premium poly fiber filling. We have some sweet jungle wall decals to go with this theme, too.

Baby Mobile for an Alligator Themed Nursery

Baby Mobile for an Alligator Themed Nursery

A modern take on the jungle theme is to choose just one animal. And, believe it or not, the alligator can be an awfully cute animal to design a nursery around. We like the uniqueness of this alligator baby mobile created by blogger Mrs. Meyers Musings. The lime green and navy blue color combo helps spice up traditional green. weeDECOR also has an alligator wall decal in a modern design aesthetic.

Finally, LovelySymphony on Etsy designs beautiful, whimsical hot air balloon baby mobile for a unique baby girl’s nursery and go nicely with our hot air balloon wall decals.

Our Picks for Cute Big Kid Beds

Transitioning your toddler to a big kid bed is a momentous occasion. So, why not make the experience more fun and exciting for your little one (and for you) with these creative takes on a toddler bed.

For high style, modern design, consider this white toddler bed from Oeuf. The sleek lines scream contemporary décor and you can choose from a lighter birch or darker walnut wood finish depending on your taste.

For a touch more fun, see this modern toddler bed from Rafa Kids. The wheels add an extra touch of fun as your toddler can imagine sleeping in a bed shaped like a car and practical as they make moving the bed around the room easier.

For a vintage look, this crib converted to a toddler bed or day bed is particularly unique when a canopy is added. We are in love with the red and white polka dot schematic that adds a festive look to the décor. Add other bright colors like pink and yellow and polka dot wall decals to turn your room into confetti-filled fun.

While we’re on the topic on vintage take a peek at this toddler bed from a photo taken by Johan Lindberg. This retro big kid’s bed is offset by an eclectic mix of décor including rattan baskets for storage, classic steps stools for play, and modern wall art adorning the room. The bright, solid yellow carpet pulls everything together nicely.

We go Bah-Bah over Sheep Nursery Décor

One of the sweetest classic themes in nursery décor is the quintessential little lamb. So classic. So perfect for your little one. We just couldn’t help taking notice of so many beautiful baby nurseries incorporating this theme!

Aside from being simple and sweet, we appreciate the gender and color neutrality the sheep design element brings to a baby’s room. Since most sheep come in white, you can add almost any accent color of your liking.

For example, see this lovely grey and white sheep themed nursery designed for Charlotte in Austin, TX. The rich, elegant furnishings from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child bring a classic touch to a relatively modern color scheme.

For a bolder look, consider black and white sheep décor as highlighted by Joni Lay on BHG.com. Bold, black accents such as the lamp and dresser shown in this inspiration board can make quite an impact. And, babies are attracted to high contrast colors which make this nursery that much more attractive.

For a softer, more classic look, see how entertaining and lifestyle expert Jenny Steffens Hobick used pale blue and classic lamb décor from Pottery Barn Kids to decorate her lamb themed baby room. We especially like the lamb rocker—just darling!

And, weeDECOR has several sheep wall decal designs to help augment your nursery décor. Our jumping sheep wall decal has three little sheep jumping over fences onto blades of grass. We also have a personalized sheep decal to make your baby’s nursery feel even more unique.

Light It Up with Inspiring Nursery Lighting

Lighting can be an easy way to add a bit of pizzazz to your nursery or kid’s room.

We are big fans of lanterns which not only serve a functional purpose of light, but add a festive look to any room. The beautiful spheres add billowy playfulness to the room that is difficult to do with other types of décor. Paper lanterns come in so many shapes and colors that it is easy to find a combination that suits your fancy. Let your creativity guide you!

We found this regal-looking chandelier at Land of Nod—perfect for your little princess. The delicate glass beads would look just gorgeous hanging in the center of a room and they would glisten with perfection at the hint of sun or moonlight. Since this light is made of glass it would work with any color scheme you choose.

If you’re looking for something different, get inspired by this nursery designed by Calgary designer Alykhan Velji. He is the creative genius behind this “wow” nursery and the use of a warehouse lamp to add delight to the room. You might be able to find something similar at your local antique store. While we’re at it, we also love the use of a non-traditional color palette of white, grey, and yellow.

And if you’d like to keep it low key, we like this simple, neutral pendant light from Ikea. Not only does it have a great price ($29.99), the design is such that it would work in a variety of styled rooms.

Just Discovered! Little Auggie for a Fresh Modern Nursery Look

We just discovered Little Auggie and had to share. Little Auggie is the creation of Toronto sisters Genevieve and Cristina. Genevieve is the creative genius behind the illustrations while Cristina is the brains behind the business. What a great combo this makes!

Pony Love Nursery - Little Auggie

We were struck by the simplicity of Little Auggie’s designs which pack such a powerful punch. Their take on a baby boy nursery blue is a bright pale blue bordering on aqua in a collection aptly named “Felix” for the cute little puppies sprinkled on the linens.

Natasha is their take on girl’s nursery bedding as they boldly proclaim lilac as the “new pink”. The yellow and grey accents also add a touch of modern to the design. And, their matryoshka doll illustration is a nice change from traditional butterflies, flowers, and birds that you see in many girl bedding designs.

Little Auggie carries toddler bedding as well as layette sets and sleep sacks with the same fresh, modern look. And, they even have an adult line of bedding incorporating many of the modern design principles in their baby and kids line. See their quilts, pillows, and sheets if you’re looking to freshen up your bedroom.

What’s more, Little Auggie’s products are made of luxurious 200 percale colorfast cotton in India.

Winter got you down? Think Spring and Decorate with Green!

Emerald green was named Pantone’s color of the year for 2013 and what better reason to start thinking spring.

The Pantone folks describe emerald as “a lively, radiant, lush green”. Such vibrant adjectives are sure to inspire a vibrant room! See how emerald green paired with bright canary yellow can create a gorgeous nursery in this fabulous nursery featured on all-things-baby blog TheBump. This nursery says “spring” all year round. We’re also a fan of the bold black accents such as the vintage stroller and sweet nightstand depicted in the design.

If you are challenged with finding matching décor in emerald green, consider using lime green, which is more broadly found in nursery designs. Lime green works well with a variety of blues, yellows, browns, and more making it versatile for decorating. For example, we’re in awe of this aqua and lime green nursery featuring a gorgeous lime green dresser made out of an old TV cabinet and a white changing table with lime green accents.

succulent copper planters

DIY Copper Planters - Poppytalk

Another way to add green to your nursery décor is with the real thing – plants! Although we recommend keeping these well out of baby’s reach, consider copper planters & succulents to add green to your nursery. Inspiring Canadian design blog Poppytalk describes how to create DIY copper planters with succulents and ketchup. Yes – you read correctly. Ketchup. Succulents are low maintenance, which is perfect when you have a new baby. Hens and chicks and aloe vera are great non-toxic options (safe for toddlers).

If real plants aren’t your thing, check out our selection of nature wall decals, which can give you that green look without the maintenance. Our most popular nature wall decal mural features traditional green leaves. You can also choose from green and yellow bird and owl accents. We also have a safari wall decal mural featuring green palm trees and shrubbery for that jungle look in green.
