Designed by nursery decor specialists’ Little Crown Interiors, this modern nautical themed nursery is light and airy with pale blue wall paint, white wainscoting, and hints of navy blue, red, and lime green to bring forth visual contrast. We love the boat shaped book shelf and the hand painted toy box featuring cute sea creatures, and fish book ends on an ocean-feeling nightstand.

A bold navy blue and white striped painted wall and a gorgeous wall decal with an anchor and personalized element bring this nursery to life. We also appreciate the drawers for nursery storage underneath the crib to keep the room looking tidy and maintaining function.

If rustic nursery decor is your style, this rustic nautical nursery may be just the style you are seeking. The dark navy blue walls set the stage for vintage boat pictures, mobiles, and fishing hooks are used as hangers. The yellow rug helps liven up the pristine navy and white color scheme.

Delightful!

Seeing Stripes? Paint your Nursery in these Fun, Striped Patterns

Adding painted stripes to walls is an easy(ish) way to add visual interest and playfulness to any room. Whether you’re looking to go bold with vibrant, contrasting colors or subtle with a cascade of tonal stripes, this design element is versatile enough to work in either situation. Take a peek at some of these gorgeous examples of stripes at play:

File this under "fabulous."

We love the baby blue/salmon color combination here and the details on that daybed are just incredible.  As the eye travels upward, it is met with the lovely pale blue wall and then WOW! Big, bold salmon stripes sweep across the ceiling and draw due attention to that incredible chandelier. Yes, our necks hurt just thinking about the logistics of painting stripes on the ceiling but in this case? Totally worth it! Kudos to Krista Salmon, the designer of the room, of Kiki’s List.

Another glorious color combination!

Dark meets light in this unique nursery! These parents got clever with color and opted to keep the walls free of objects to make the ceiling the focal point of the room. We love how the marigold color in the bedding is picked up in the stripes. Taking a cue from the crib, this mom and dad contrasted dark with light on the walls to make a bold statement in their little one’s nursery.

True blue, pale blue, and white wrap around this super-cute little boy's room.

While some people shy away from blue walls due to their darkening effect, this mom and dad embraced the blue and brightened up their son’s room by incorporating white stripes on the walls. Punctuated by unique accessories (that ceiling light! that crazy cool roman shade! the artwork), the result is a space that is tranquil yet fun, simple yet interesting.

Stunning stripes in a stunning nursery

Striped walls definitely add visual interest to a room, but they also have the powerful effect of creating dimension, as evidenced in this beautiful blue and white nursery. Mom and dad opted to keep opposing walls white and used stripes to create depth in the sleeping/changing area of the room. We love the pale blue accents sprinkled here and there (the drawer pulls, the chandelier), but the striped friend on the wall brought the biggest smiles. This might be the one baby who looks forward to diaper changes, just to giggle and grin at the striped friend who watches over the changing table.

Striped walls in a nautical themed nursery

Life’s a beach for this lucky little one! A nautical-themed nursery practically demands stripes of some sort, and these parents kept it subtle. Creamy beige and soft white strips take turns around the room while the wall decor brings the fun. We love how the beige curtains fall on the beige stripes so the pattern is not disrupted. That takes some planning and incredible attention to detail.

With a little practice, a little patience, and a LOT of painter’s tape, you can add interest, fun, and depth to your nursery or kid’s room. Striped walls are an inexpensive way to create a huge impact in your wee one’s space.

From stripes to wall decals to amazing accessories, we’ve found tons of examples of  knock-your-socks-off  nursery decor. Be sure to check out our blog for the inspiration you need to design the dream room for your baby or young child. For more incredible ideas, visit our Pinterest boards.

Sailboat Themed Blue Nursery with Pottery Barn Kids Chase Baby Bedding

Seeking sailing inspiration?  See how this Miami mom used our personalized sailboat wall decals to create a soothing and sweet sailboat nursery for baby boy Samuel.

She tells weeDECOR, “I wanted something peaceful and not so ‘charged’. My theme was blue and white with sailboats. As you see from the pictures, I chose your personalized sailboat wall decals which I loved. They give the room a more fun and childlike ambiance. Everyone that has seen the room loves the decals. I have recommended your decals to everyone!”

Such a lucky boy is Samuel to have such a gorgeous room and a mom with great decorating style! And, lucky for us and our readers, this mom was willing to share her decorating secrets. This “super mom in training” painted the walls while pregnant with an odor and toxic-free paint from Benjamin Moore. The paint called “Misty Blue” is from the Benjamin Moore Classic Colors collection #820.

She tells us the bedding, mobile, crib, changing station and dresser are all from Pottery Barn Kids. The blue baby bedding which includes bumper, fitted crib sheet and skirt is called “Chase” and can only be ordered online. She also purchased the coordinating mobile and the personalized sham and quilt.

The sumptuously blue rug in her nursery is from baby luxury retailer Rosenberry Rooms. The rug is called “Sailor Boy Rug – Deep Blue Sea” and it’s the 5.6 foot round.

She bought the shelf at IKEA as well as the big bed’s bedding and shams. Finally, she purchased the sailboat book holders at Marshall’s.

Thanks, Miami mom, for sharing your style with weeDECOR.

We all appreciate a little eye candy and nursery decorating is no exception. For your no calorie candy of the day, we encourage you to check out these designer nurseries from Jack and Jill Interiors. Jack and Jill Interiors is a design firm run by celebrity kid’s room interior designer Sherri Blum who has been featured in People and HGTV. Their design style runs traditional with an emphasis on customization that allows your child’s personality to shine through the décor of the room.

For example, this pretty baby girl’s garden themed nursery in green and pink incorporates a traditional soft green and pink color palette with both delicate and vibrant accents to bring liveliness to the room. We love the mint green wall paint and the butterfly accents on the walls and sheer curtain for that delicate touch. Yet, we appreciate how the bright and vibrant floral rug is brought in without overwhelming the room. That is the brilliance of a great interior designer! And, don’t miss Sherri’s own “Dream” garden wall art above the crib, part of her customized line of wall art.

This preppy nautical themed nursery is also adorable. The white wainscoting accented with pale blue wall paint gives this nursery its decadently rich and classic look. A classic-styled blue crib with soft curvature adds to the sense of serenity to the baby’s room. The crib even evokes the feeling of a boat sailing at sea. We particularly like the little seating nook Sherri created under a pleated pale blue window valence accented with a cute blue teddy bear and pale blue throw pillows.

Finally, we wanted to highlight this transportation themed boy’s room with planes and trains and a punchy stripe of orange paint in the middle of the wall. The personalized plane above the little boy’s bed and the train next to the window are painted wall murals. And, we can’t help but notice how perfectly the blue lamp shade matches the window treatments.

Jack and Jill Interiors provides complete design and decorating services for the nursery, bedroom, bathroom or playroom for children from the infant through teenage years anywhere you are located. They will help you with fabric and paint selection and with coordinating furniture and accessories. Don’t be shy about contacting them if you’re looking for a little bit of inspiration and help. Ms. Blum also has a line of nursery décor and nursery wall art.

These stunningly designed nurseries by Little Crown Interiors are heaven for those seeking inspiring nursery décor ideas.  Little Crown Interiors’ luxurious, innovative, safe, and well-planned room designs for babies and children bring creative details and gorgeous color combinations providing decadent eye candy for interior design junkies.

A few of our favorites are this nature themed baby nursery enveloped with soothing green wall paint and highlighted with nature themed accents like a tree wall mural and aqua blue elephant wall art.  The personalized wall letters and espresso colored crib from Young America by Stanley Furniture add that pop of color contrast we love.  Just looking at this baby nursery makes you want to curl up under the tree for a nap while the animals frolic around you.

We also like this colorful nautical nursery with two-toned painted walls in blue and white embellished with sea animals, boats, and starfish.  Ocean themed wall art, a rowboat wall shelf, and a starfish adorn the blue nursery walls.  A soft green glider and ottoman sit in the corner bringing warmth to the cool shades of blue.  And, the custom painted toy box of colorful fish screams “Look how cute I am!” in this nautical themed baby boy nursery.  We think the fish bookends on the nightstand are also a nice touch.

Finally, Little Crown Interiors designed this pink shabby chic nursery in a home with beautiful, historical architectural details.  We love how they used a combination of various pinks such as pale pink wall paint and accents of bright pink in the pink toile crib bedding and Oopsy Daisy wall art.  A white and pink chandelier hangs over the cozy nursery while custom painted wall letters and whimsical wall hangings bring personality to the baby room.

We love sailboats when decorating a little boy’s nursery because of their versatility and longevity.  You can use sailboats to create a nautical themed nursery that is hip and modern, classic and traditional, or vintage and antique.  Go all out with boat themed baby bedding, rugs, and window treatments.  Or, keep it simple with a few decorative accents like boat wall canvases or sailboat wall decals.

And, better yet, a nautical themed nursery is primed to be painted in beautiful blues – a color for which we have not been shy about expressing our preference as a primary decorating color for a baby’s room.

There are some great bedding choices out there like this “High Seas” sailboat crib bedding from Whistle and Wink.  Using hand quilting to create classic-looking, illustrated sailboats and a soft blue and white color palette, this soothing bedding set will send your baby boy happily to dreamland.

For much looser wallets, this “Set Sail” boat baby bedding from PoshTots is gorgeous. The bedding is made with 100% Swiss cotton seersucker featuring soft blue stripes in shades from light blue to navy incorporating a modern shade of aqua. The Seersucker is paired with pique in white that is embellished with boat themed embroidery. The blue and white alternating boats line the edge of the hem of the crib skirt.

If you would like a bit more versatility, try our sailboat wall decals which can be personalized with your baby’s name.  Use our boat wall decals to decorate above a changing table or another area of your baby nursery that needs a touch of detail.  They come in navy blue/pale blue, navy blue/white, and medium blue/white as shown above.  All would look lovely in a blue painted boy’s room.

Finally, these precious sailboat drawer knobs will add the finishing touches to your baby’s room.

A nautical theme can grow with your baby though the toddler years.  With regard to color, stick with light blues, whites, and yellows in the baby years for that cozy nursery feel.  Then, bring in some darker blues and reds to make the theme feel age appropriate for your tot a few years down the line.  You can also move into ocean themed décor by embellishing with fish and other under the sea creatures.
