Let’s start with the walls, shall we? Two great trends come together in this gorgeous nursery. The choice of grey and white for the walls somehow manages to make the chevron print look more understated because it allows the yellow to truly stand out. We love that this mom and dad decided to go chevron on one wall only. It keeps the project manageable it you’re a do-it-yourselfer. We love the baby blue/salmon color combination here and the details on that daybed are just incredible.  As the eye travels upward, it is met with the lovely pale blue wall and then WOW! Big, bold salmon stripes sweep across the ceiling and draw due attention to that incredible chandelier. Yes, our necks hurt just thinking about the logistics of painting stripes on the ceiling but in this case? Totally worth it!

Dark meets light in this unique nursery! These parents got clever with color and opted to keep the walls free of objects to make the ceiling the focal point of the room. We love how the marigold color in the bedding is picked up in the stripes. Taking a cue from the crib, this mom and dad contrasted dark with light on the walls to make a bold statement in their little one’s nursery.

While some people shy away from blue walls due to their darkening effect, this mom and dad embraced the blue and brightened up their son’s room by incorporating white stripes on the walls. Mom and dad opted to keep opposing walls white and used stripes to create depth in the sleeping/changing area of the room. We love the pale blue accents sprinkled here and there (the drawer pulls, the chandelier), but the striped friend on the wall brought the biggest smiles. This might be the one baby who looks forward to diaper changes, just to giggle and grin at the striped friend who watches over the changing table.

Life’s a beach for this lucky little one! A nautical-themed nursery practically demands stripes of some sort, and these parents kept it subtle. Designers looked back almost 100 years to find the inspiration for this bedding. The perfect vintage bedding demands an equally-appealing bed, don’t you think? Safety standards for cribs have changed drastically over the years, so this is one area where authentic vintage may not by the best route. Luckily, vintage-look cribs are popping up everywhere. Now, on to the décor! We love this idea found on Design Dazzle. A mom scored some darling vintage dresses from a clothing store that was shutting down and, with the help of some twine, added softness and dimension to her daughter’s walls. So clever! 5. Minimalism

This mom and dad create a simple and serene space for their little one.

A long-time favorite of urban dwellers, minimalistic décor has made its way to nurseries across the US. We’ve seen some absolutely stunning kids’ rooms that scream “serenity.” While minimalistic design may seem easy (just pick one or two things and keep it simple), it actually requires more thought, more research, and more precision. Parents who use this approach to nursery décor must pick from what can be an overwhelming amount of products in an effort to find that one piece of art, that one wall decal, that one piece of furniture to serve as the statement piece for the room. This social discovery platform now boasts up to 3 million users, and once you spend an hour (or six!) on the site, it’s easy to see why people are gravitating to pinterest for design inspiration. Moms everywhere are able to “beg” for feedback, “borrow” a concept and modify it to make it their own, and “steal” creative and unique ideas of other crafty parents when designing their nurseries. Pinterest gives parents access to a world of clever, beautiful, and sometimes profound collections of images and tutorials. 3. Form, meet Function in these Darling Nightlights

Nursery nighlights are a must for new parents! There is no better way to avoid fumbling around blindly for the burp cloth while keeping things on the dark side so that baby is compelled to go back to sleep after the feeding. This year, we have come across some absolutely adorable nightlights for nurseries. Mother Laila Ali's Classic Pink Baby Nursery

The Hope Crib in Pink in Baby Ali's Nursery

We have always been huge fans of the work of Little Crown Interiors and this celebrity nursery is no different. Well, it’s a little different in that Naomi and Gerri, the founders of Little Crown were hired by Muhammad Ali’s daughter, Laila, to decorate her daughter Sydney’s nursery. How exciting!

You can read more about the project on Project Nursery, but we thought we would share the highlights.

We love that this nursery features the Hope Crib. As you may recall from one of our earlier posts, Little Crown Interiors in conjunction with Southern California based luxury furniture maker, Newport Cottages, developed the Hope Crib to support breast cancer research. Each Hope Crib comes with a custom plaque for the owners to inscribe a sentiment of their choosing; on Sydney’s, the inscription reads, “Unconditionally Loved and Eternally Blessed.”

To adorn the crib, Little Crown chose an organic Naturalmat mattress and custom crib bedding by Carousel Designs.  Above the crib features breathtaking custom artwork piece from Art.com – a large photo of Muhammad Ali holding his infant daughter Laila, stretched onto canvas, a very personal element and a key focal point in the room. On each side of the stretched canvas are matching mirrors by Pottery Barn Kids.

The nursery glider and coordinating ottoman were made by SPI Baby and the Newport Cottages toy box was custom painted to match Laila Ali’s nursery color scheme.
