Out of This World Space Themed Kids’ and Babies’ Rooms

These space themed baby rooms are out of this world in our earthly opinion and we’re pretty sure you’ll agree. Who wouldn’t be inspired by beautiful hues of blue enveloping your little boy as he nods off to dreamland. We found these three inspiring designs and had to share!

Dwell Studio's New Space Themed Baby Bedding

Dwell Studio's New Space Themed Baby Bedding

The first is from high class designer Dwell Studio. We love Dwell for all of their modern takes on traditional baby room decor. Dwell’s space themed baby bedding called “Galaxy” uses soft greys as a way to make the theme more for modern times. Leveraging an illustration motif, stars, planets and rockets adorn their soft sheets and blankets. You can even purchase matching changing pad cover, blankets, as well as baby accessories like hooded towels, sleep bags, and burp cloths if you really want to go wild.

The second nursery (found on Project Nursery) was designed by a DIY mom who drew and painted the space wall mural to match her son’s bedding (Target’s Space Themed Bedding also by Dwell). She got the letters for his name at Michael’s and also painted them herself. We especially like how the lime green pops against the deep navy blue wall paint. Lucky, Jack!

Finally, this space themed boy’s room caught our eye. While the wall mural is powerful, we were also struck by the subtly of the rest of the decor – the soft blue star boys bedding and curtains, the small round moon rug, and the earth wall hanging above the bed.

Happy Friday! And, what an inspiring Friday it is with this gorgeous nursery for twins featured on Belle Maison. The pale green room with neutral undertones sets the stage for a delightful baby room. And, how clever is that scrabble wall decor with the twins’ names? So cute! You can read more about the details of the room on Belle Maison, a site for inspiring home design.

We’re a big fan of the neutral accents such as the brown and white chevron rug, the cream upholstered Pottery Barn nursing chair, the birch-colored wood wall hangings, the large white photos of the twins above each crib, and the espresso-colored hardwood floors.

Pale Pink and Brown Classic Nursery

Pale Pink and Brown Classic Nursery by the Girl Inspired

We always “ooh” and “ah” when we see a nursery decorated with damask and this nursery is no different. Check out the Girl Inspired’s Brown and Pink Damask Nursery designed by Girl Inspired herself. We love the use of the damask wallpaper on an accent wall. It brings such depth to the room without overwhelming the space.

Girl Inspired left no stone unturned when it came to using her space and the decorative elements to its utmost potential. The delicate touches are all here – classic espresso chocolate furniture and shelves, a hanging mobile of bird’s on a branch, a nursery glider in a pale pink toile print, fabric wall letters on the shelves, and more. Woven storage baskets tuck neatly in their cubbies, a crystal chandelier hangs elegantly from the ceiling, a soft lamb pillow chair is placed under the window, and nostalgic knick-knacks of jewelry boxes, piggy banks, and picture frames sit on shelves to make the room feel cozy and warm. It’s hard not too “ooh” and “ah”.

We go Bah-Bah over Sheep Nursery Décor

One of the sweetest classic themes in nursery décor is the quintessential little lamb. So classic. So perfect for your little one. We just couldn’t help taking notice of so many beautiful baby nurseries incorporating this theme!

Aside from being simple and sweet, we appreciate the gender and color neutrality the sheep design element brings to a baby’s room. Since most sheep come in white, you can add almost any accent color of your liking.

For example, see this lovely grey and white sheep themed nursery designed for Charlotte in Austin, TX. The rich, elegant furnishings from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child bring a classic touch to a relatively modern color scheme.

For a bolder look, consider black and white sheep décor as highlighted by Joni Lay on BHG.com. Bold, black accents such as the lamp and dresser shown in this inspiration board can make quite an impact. And, babies are attracted to high contrast colors which make this nursery that much more attractive.

For a softer, more classic look, see how entertaining and lifestyle expert Jenny Steffens Hobick used pale blue and classic lamb décor from Pottery Barn Kids to decorate her lamb themed baby room. We especially like the lamb rocker—just darling!

Decorating White Walls? Bright Ideas for your Kid’s Room

If you can’t paint your kid’s room walls because you live in an apartment or you just prefer white walls, do not fear. Your kid’s room decorating options are far from limited. White walls can be an inspiring starting point for designing a bright and bold baby room.

A white wall gives you an empty canvas, which you can take in so many different design directions. We’re a fan of bright colors because they look so striking on a white background.

For example, see how mom, Taza, decorated her nursery in her white-walled apartment with a collage of bold and bright colors. One of the statement pieces in the room is a yellow dresser that she and her husband painted. She adds a lime green vintage sofa as well as a colorful strand of garland above the non-working fireplace. Her children’s multi-colored toys add a ton of visual interest so that nothing else is really needed. Beautiful!

Speaking of garland, Land of Nod has a fun multi-colored strand made of soft felt, which adds such a festive touch to your white walled room. You DIYers might even be able to make garland yourself!

Australian blog, Little Sooti, is also a fan of white walls in a kids room with a bent of modern, Scandinavian design. Her collection of kids room finds include bold touches such as a red rocking horse, blue colored floors, a multi-colored rug, and more.

Finally, check out Babble for this Scandinavian inspired kids homework/play area which, like mom Taza, uses the color from kids toys to help make the room pop. This work area has cute colorful play drums, a mini red piano, a yellow toy suitcase, and more to bring bold and bright to these white walls.

And we would be remiss without mentioning how our nursery wall decals can add color to your white walls without the mess of paint. Choose from popular kids room themes such as princesses, trains, owls, trees, and more!

Antique Picture Frames Create Stunning Wall Candy

Check out this FABULOUS nursery designed by Los Angeles mom of Ariella. Of course we are suckers for stunning wall decor and this nursery has it!

We are going ga-ga over the Moroccan stenciled wall pattern behind the white crib. We love how the pattern frames the crib bringing striking contrast to the room. Mom found the wall stencil pattern on Etsy and painted the wall first in a darker coral (Hopeful by Sherwin Williams) and then stenciled in the lighter color (Amour Pink by Sherwin Williams).

But, wait! There’s more. We love the ceiling poms that hang playfully over the nightstand in the corner. They bring levity to the room that might otherwise be weighed down by a lot of wood. Speaking of wood, how sweet are the wooden wall letters that sit upon the nightstand adding that personal touch?

Finally, the wall stencils are not to be outdone by the collection of wall frames Ariella’s mom collected, painted, and arranged into a visually appealing collage across from the crib. While the styles span styles such as antique, vintage, and modern as well as shapes like ovals, circles, squares and rectangles, painting the frames one color bring cohesion that soothes the eye.

Head over to Project Nursery to get all the details on how mom put this nursery together.
