Because there is so much snow on the ground for many of us, today we were craving something cheery.  And, what could be more cheery than birds and spring?  This bird wall art collection for a nursery or kid’s room from Oopsy Daisy designers Megan and Mendy Winborg satiated our craving.  Impactful enough to stand-alone or to embellish a bird or nature themed room, this nursery bird wall art can’t help but bring a cheery spring smile to you and your wee one.

We were recently introduced to the charming illustration style of Kim Siebold Studios — perfect for a baby nursery or kid’s room.  From Buffalo, MN, Kim tells us she has been drawing and using her creative energy to keep her artistically busy for 38 years (not counting the additional 2 years to learn how to hold a crayon).  She draws her inspiration from everyday life and has recently begun selling her wall prints on Etsy including these darling zebra, lion, and cow wall prints.

We like the mottled color design elements Kim uses in her wall prints.  Her use of this sponge paint-like techniques form an array colors that bring the soft, childlike feel we crave to her illustrations.

Her “Z is for Zebra” wall print incorporates this element as the mottled colors of pink and white envelop her modern zebra caricature. The zebra is cute, in and of itself, and is punctuated with a modern font-styled Z for a fun interpretation of animals and the alphabet.

Her “Moomy Love” pink, brown, and lavender cow wall print uses that same sponge paint-like style detailed with polka dots.  Perfect for a little girl’s room or nursery, the white-spotted mom and baby cows would add nice detail to a farm animal themed room.

In her “Roar” lion wall print, Kim uses a similar polka dot motif but with more of a pure, illustrated style that lends itself to a sharper look.  “Roar” the lion also comes in super cute “Meow” the cat and “Woof” the dog if you are seeking other animal images.  

Reasonably priced at $17 per wall print, it’s hard not to go wrong with these animal cuties.

E is for Elephant - Thailand Inspired Nursery Wall Decor

We’ve been seeking creative ideas for modern, travel-themed kid’s decor and happened upon the brilliant work of designer Jennifer Hill of JHill Design.  Trained at the Massachusetts school of art in design, her clean, modern aesthetic is delightfully applied to calendars, cards, and prints.

Her wall art is particularly intriguing as it is inspired by the places she’d like to visit – hence, our aptly titled article from the popular Dr. Seuss book  “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!”

We’ve chosen three wall prints to feature here.  The first, “C is for Camel“, is a gorgeous camel silhouette drawing filled with a pattern inspired by Marrakesh, Morocco.  Moroccan style decor is a new trend in home decorating that you should consider for a baby nursery or kid’s room due to its combination of earthy hues and bright, eye-popping colors like the purple, orange, and yellow colors in the camel.

The Massachusetts themed W is for Whale wall print gets its inspiration from the lovely area of Cape Cod, known for its blues and grays.  Enhanced, with a paisley-like pattern with what can be seen as mini-bubbles blown by the whale.

Finally, the E is for Elephant print is a bold combination of bright blue, orange, and purple inspired by the style of Thailand.  The Thai are famous for their bright-colored silks and dark wood furniture.  The style and color palette of this print is probably most appropriate for decorating a boy’s room.

Jennifer has designed a wall print line for the entire alphabet featuring more of our favorite nursery animals such as deer, bear, giraffes, and my personal favorite, “A is for Aardvark“.

The wall prints are printed on photo matte paper and measure 9″x9″. They come unframed or framed for $25 and $50, respectively.
