A Neutral Colored Nursery with weeDECOR Safari Wall Decals

Looking for ideas on how to decorate a neutral toned, modern safari baby nursery? Take some tips from this California couple.

First note how they started with a taupe wall paint (“Cane Pole” by Mythic Paints) to help set the stage. The nice thing about taupe is that it is highly functional and can be used with both classic and modern decor. It is a shade that can be made more “cool” with blues and greens or more “warm” with oranges and browns.

Since mom and dad decided to go with a contemporary look for their nursery decor, they chose this gorgeous modern crib in two-toned white and espresso accents from Babyletto Modo. Note how the dual colors help bring more visual interest to the room. This is a particularly good decorating trick when you are sticking with a neutral color palette.

Mom and dad used weeDECOR’s safari wall decals to provide the playful accents to bring playfulness and personality to their modern baby nursery. Our safari wall decals, made of eco-friendly fabric, are shown here in chocolate brown and mocha and include an elephant, giraffe, alligator, lion, hippo, and two turtle wall decals. This jungle-themed wall mural set also comes with two cute green palm trees and a few green bushes to add more punch to the color palette. Note our wall decals also come as individual animal wall decals should you prefer to decorate with one type of animal.

Finally, check out the little stuffed giraffe peeking out from just inside the crib – the perfect finishing touch!

Thanks, mom and dad, for sending your photos to weeDECOR!

Jungle Wall Decals for a Nursery by weeDECOR

This Michigan mom just sent in photos of her baby girl’s nursery featuring our safari wall decals. We love how mom arranged these jungle wall decals as an animal parade along her baseboard. The hippo leads the way followed by our modern elephant, turtle, lion, alligator, and giraffe, interspersed with jungle-green bushes and palm trees.

Mom tells weeDECOR, “I love the way these safari wall decals look in my baby’s room, and she loves crawling over to them to touch them.  I use them to teach her about different animal names.”

When it came to planning her nursery décor mom tells us, “I had bought a polka-dot blanket and an alphabet-themed quilt shown at the foot of her crib before she was born a year ago. I wanted to coordinate with the decals and the paint, so I held the decals up to the various colors on the blankets to see what paint would look best. There were two colors that looked nice – a peachy color and the light blue that we used.  I decided that the peach was a bit too risky for me if I didn’t like the way it looked. So, I chose a blue that was a pretty, calming color.”

Once finished painting, mom found a jungle-themed switch plate and night light to go with the wall decals.

Mom also used a butter yellow crib skirt and delicate, sheer white curtains to bring softness to her baby girl’s room.

Thanks, Michigan mom, for sending in your photos.

Potter Barn Kids Bedding & Furniture in a Giraffe Themed Nursery by ColorTHEORY

Best of Boston Home winner ColorTHEORY lives up to their chic name when designing interior spaces, particularly when it comes to colorful interiors like your baby’s nursery.

Creator Brad Dufton and partner Benjamin Scott created ColorTHEORY as a full-service, residential interior styling company, offering expertise in painting, color consultations, wallpaper patterns and placement, and designing the overall aesthetic of a home as well as doing their part in helping to minimize our carbon footprint.

When asked to do Liam’s nursery, ColorTHEORY tells us that from the beginning, mom politely and eagerly expressed her desire for a yellow painted nursery complimented with giraffe decorative accessories. With that in mind, ColorTHEORY suggested two soft bluish-greens for the doors and ceilings, to offset the bold yellow, and the parents happily said yes.

They used Benjamin Moore paints to achieve the luscious look. The yummy yellow painted wall in this nursery is “Lemon Grass” and the doors are “Stratton Blue“. The ceiling is a fun “Palladian Blue“.  And, the finishing trim in this baby’s room is “Super White“.

When it came to helping them envision how the tree & giraffe would appear and interact in the room, the clients were very open-minded. ColorTHEORY wanted to create a peaceful corner where mom and dad could rock newborn baby Liam to sleep under a whimsical Serengeti tree, all while having their own mental escape.

The tree is a mural, using Stratton & Palladian blue, painted by ColorTHEORY’s own, Benjamin Scott.

The furniture and bedding accessories are from Pottery Barn Kids. The baby bedding is called “Jungle Friends” and is a cute collection of giraffes, hippos and elephants, with monkeys swinging happily from palm trees.

One of our favorite interior design houses for luxury nursery decorating, Little Crown Interiors, has done it again. See their latest work of art – this gorgeous safari themed nursery. There is so much texture and detail in this safari themed baby room that describing it as luxurious hardly feels like enough.

Little Crown Interiors started with a loft apartment space and selected an iron crib and wood changing table both made by Bratt Décor. We “ooed and ahed” over the dark wood and intricate carvings in the changing table which make it feel rich and jungle-like.

They also designed and produced the custom silk crib bedding set which features an extra long crib skirt, fitted sheet, and bumper. And, there are several other coordinating textiles in the nursery, including changing pad covers, throw pillows and a blanket in tonal browns and golds that bring the nursery to life. We especially like the neutral colored nursery glider and ottoman. The finishing touches of this baby room are completed with the sumptuous zebra rug.

But, the stars of this show are the 3D safari wall décor. Over the crib sits a large tree and a cute baby giraffe. A zebra peeks out from the side of the changing table. And, two curious monkeys hang about above the changing table.

It’s a jungle out there! But, you can make your baby king of his own personal jungle with these “statement making” options for safari nursery wall decor.

For the creative minded mom, get inspiration from Sawyer’s Safari Nursery designed by Rate My Space Mom, Mila.  We love the muted browns and greens color palette which is not too hard to pull together with a trip to the paint store. The equally gorgeous canvases were painted by artist Jessica Rollins from Covington GA and the monkeys were painted by another local artist. Note how the monkeys are swinging from a bamboo rod serving the dual purpose of a curtain rod. So clever!

For a textured look, consider something like this hand-crafted and hand-painted wooden safari wall mural from Beetlebugs. Everything is made of wood and attaches to your wall. The mural is conveniently removable so if you move, you can take your murals with you. This Jungle Bungle Scene Set includes a giraffe, an elephant, a turtle, butterflies, clouds, bees, and lady bugs.

For an easy decorating solution that gives you a painted stenciled look, try weeDECOR’s exclusively designed safari wall decal mural with giraffes, lions, elephants, hippos, alligators, turtles, and palm tree wall decals. Create your safari theme with no messy paint! Our safari wall decals are of a matte finish that look like paint and the animals come in modern, rich dark brown and green.

Wallpaper for kids’ rooms has made a comeback in recent years as new generations of designers have improved upon both its functionality and its look. Now, you can find beautiful kids wallpaper with cool, modern designs and it’s much easier to apply.

FermLiving is one of those designers and has a line of modern, kid-themed wallpaper called WallSmart. WallSmart is a non-woven wallpaper designed for easier hanging. You apply the paste directly to the wall rather than working with a pre-pasted material. It is even washable to protect from sticky hands. Remember that in any wallpaper project, two sets of hands are a must!

We found some great themes for modern kid’s room decorating such as this animal themed wallpaper in bright green with elephants, giraffes, chickens, birds, and squirrels perfect for a playroom. This tree themed wallpaper in yellow, white, and brown called Dotty would be cute wall décor for a girl’s room or gender neutral nursery. We can envision it working well in a yellow nursery with touches of hot pink in a girl’s room or apple green in a boy’s room. Finally, this car themed wallpaper is fun and comes in dark aqua blue and white featuring cars and trucks of contemporary design and colors. It would be delightful in a modern boy’s nursery or a playroom.

Keep in mind that the vibrant prints in these and other wallpaper designs can overwhelm a room. Make sure you use bold printed wallpaper sparingly. For example, each of these patterns would look lovely on an accent wall. If not obvious, an accent wall is when you choose one wall in the room to highlight. It may be the wall behind the crib or the wall behind a large dresser.

Bold wallpaper prints also look nice above or below a chair rail. We like the idea of using these prints below the chair molding and then painting the upper half in bright, coordinating colors.

If you like these wallpaper designs, you can get matching throw pillows to complete your look.
