Pale Pink and Brown Classic Nursery

Pale Pink and Brown Classic Nursery by the Girl Inspired

We always “ooh” and “ah” when we see a nursery decorated with damask and this nursery is no different. Check out the Girl Inspired’s Brown and Pink Damask Nursery designed by Girl Inspired herself. We love the use of the damask wallpaper on an accent wall. It brings such depth to the room without overwhelming the space.

Girl Inspired left no stone unturned when it came to using her space and the decorative elements to its utmost potential. The delicate touches are all here – classic espresso chocolate furniture and shelves, a hanging mobile of bird’s on a branch, a nursery glider in a pale pink toile print, fabric wall letters on the shelves, and more. Woven storage baskets tuck neatly in their cubbies, a crystal chandelier hangs elegantly from the ceiling, a soft lamb pillow chair is placed under the window, and nostalgic knick-knacks of jewelry boxes, piggy banks, and picture frames sit on shelves to make the room feel cozy and warm. It’s hard not too “ooh” and “ah”.

Who is the Girl Inspired you ask and where can you see more? Check out her lovely design-oriented blog for ideas on crafts, sewing and more.

Ah, Toile!  Such a romantic pattern!  If you were curious, Toile, short for Toile du Juoy, is a pattern used in home décor – curtains and upholstery in particular. It originated in France in the late 1700s and has become increasingly popular in nursery decorating as a way to create a romantic, soothing, and nostalgic feel to your baby room.

Toile is a repeated pattern traditionally set on a white or cream background, and comes most often in black, navy, and red.  The pattern traditionally is in the form of a one-color pastoral scene that tells a story. We found a few beauties if you are looking for inspiration on how to use toile to decorate your nursery.

First is a baby bedding set from Carousel Designs featuring the popular P. Kaufmann “Central Park” black and white toile fabric.  Go all out with this set which is just stunning!  Choose from the standard four piece bedding set (crib sheet, bumper, crib skirt, and blanket) or from other accessories like curtains, decorative pillows, and the cutest little lamp shade.

Our second pick is a lovely little nursery 8″ x 10″ wall hanging in blue and ivory toile from Well Appointed House.  This little piece of wonderful can be personalized with your child’s name.  Hang it on the door or buy three with your child’s first, middle, and last name and create a wall collage.  The wall hangings will last a lifetime.

Finally, if you would like just of touch of the pattern, try this pink and brown toile diaper bag from Trendy Tot Designs. The polka dot design lends a more modern feel should you want a smaller amount of toile.

Whether you use a lot or a little, toile will help you create an elegant nursery.
