Learn Which Wall Paints are Nursery Safe

If your nursery decorating plans involve painting walls, consider low VOC, zero VOC, or natural paints.  Low VOC stands for volatile organic compounds.  In paint, VOCs manifest themselves in the form of odor and vapors that can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation. Significant exposure can lead to problems with kidneys, liver, or the central nervous system. Luckily, recent advancements in technology have enabled the production of low VOC, zero VOC, or natural wall paints. These paints are ideal for those moms seeking a green nursery or those seeking unnecessary chemical exposure. They can also be easier to clean, to dispose of, and tend to produce less odor. To be considered low VOC, the paint may only contain 250 grams of VOC per liter. Zero VOC paints may still contain VOCs, but have less than 5 grams of VOC per liter. Natural paints use water instead of petroleum and are made from natural ingredients such as water, clay, chalk, plant dyes, natural latex and even milk and beeswax. There are many wall paint options in the market but here is a list of some of our favorites that are particularly good for kid’s rooms and nurseries.
