Nursery Blues January 07 2015

There are so many beautiful blues in the world, and yet it was surprising difficult to find a solid collection of modern blue nurseries. Whether you choose cerulean, robin egg, navy, grayish blue, or bright aqua, each hue sets a different tone for your space. When choosing your nursery color, always consider the size of the room, both natural and artificial light sources, and your furniture since those are the most permanent elements. Larger spaces with a lot of natural light will allow for bolder shades, while small spaces may need something lighter to open up the space.

The color of choice for the classic nursery. Perfect for boy's baby room and a delightful accent for a girl’s nursery, blue baby rooms never goes out of style. To ensure that, Annette Tatum’s line of blue baby bedding uses hues that are a touch edgier than what you might find at classics like Pottery Barn Kids or Serena & Lily. She gives blue a fresh look and coordinates with contemporary colors to help you design your stylish and modern blue baby nursery. For example, in her “Bingo Breeze” pattern of blue and orange polka dot bedding, Tatum introduces a tasteful orange that pops against a pale blue, white, and medium blue. We might add that this blue and orange baby bedding is the perfect match for our modern nature wall decal mural when you are ready to think about nursery wall décor. For her other modern nursery color palettes incorporating blue see our collage above. Starting clockwise from upper left find "Bingo Breeze" followed by the “Forest Whisper” pattern. Forest Whisper baby bedding features leaves in light blue and beige with light olive green branches. We love how this color combination mixes several colors, yet maintains a gender neutral feel. If you seek, modern geometric shapes in your blue baby bedding, see Tatum’s “Sprout” in Whisper blue. This palette brings in various modern shades of blue to increase visual complexity. Sprout also comes in Peony for crib bedding with a touch of pink mixed with a dusty blue. The pattern is extra cute as it looks like modern sprouting flowers and vines in a modern, coordinating color palette. These three piece crib bedding sets include a reversible crib bumper with piping, cotton crib sheet and tailored crib skirt with kick pleat. Coordinating items are available in many of these sets include a reversible crib quilt, window panels with pom pom trim, valance with pom pom trim, a changing pad cover, fabric by the yard, boudoir pillow and neckroll pillow. The crib bedding is made from 100% cotton poplin. You can purchase all of these crib bedding sets and get free shipping from Layla Grace. A Few of the Most Inspiring Blue Nurseries We've Ever Seen March 15 2010

So, we wanted to share these three inspiring blue nurseries from Rate My Space moms that are sure to knock your socks off, too. These super creative moms turned what could be traditional blue nurseries upside down, making them anything but traditional. This glamorous, vintage “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” blue nursery was designed by “mnm” for her baby girl named Audrey, of course :). She painted the walls in “Sea Breeze” by Valspar (matched by Sherwin Williams). And, she got her oh-so-glam look with a lot of smart shopping at Target and Amazon including her black and white baby bedding and sumptuous, white shag rug. Mnm painted the wall letters herself to give Audrey an elegant personality of her own. In her other photos, you’ll see very cool black and white damask printed curtains and a damask lamp, a vintage chandelier wall decal over her glider, and a to-die-for mirrored nightstand to hold knick-knacks. For a more modern blue nursery, we love what “Chemegal” did in her baby boy’s room using a soft blue, bright orange, and brown color palette. Her blue paint is that gorgeous “Robin’s Egg” from Benjamin Moore. She had her custom white and orange giraffe crib bedding custom made by an Etsy seamstress as well as the large brown tree wall decal behind the crib. We love how well the orange is used to accent the room as it brings warmth and visual punch. The blue and brown do their job nicely bringing a calming and cooling feel. We also like the not-as-common vertical positioning of her wall letters. Finally, if you’re up for creative wall painting, this classy looking, blue striped painted nursery is a show-stopper. Mom-to-Be “Altortolero” painted 2 inch wide white stripes with alternating 10.5 inch wide light blue (Behr Twilight Grey) and dark blue stripes (Behr Skyline Steel) to get this look. We love how the painted stripes and two-toned wall paint make the baby’s room feel like a beautifully wrapped present with a monogram wall decal “bow” on top. We also appreciate the rich, espresso colored furniture that adds an even classier feel and the modern touches like the brown and white Dwell throw. Up, Up, & Away for a Space Themed Kids Room October 22 2009

[caption id="attachment_1025" align="aligncenter" width="435" caption="Space themed kids bedroom decor"]Space themed kids bedroom decor[/caption]

Help your little boy or girl blast off to dream land via a ride through space with this astronaut-worthy kids bedroom decor set from Land of Nod.  This navy and orange 100% cotton bedding set can help you create an out-of-this-world (literally!) spaced-themed kid's room that is both fun and stylish.

The bedding set comes with a choice of two options. Choose the navy blue quilt that depicts our solar system with the sun, stars, moons, and the eight planets revolving around it.  Or, try the star decorated duvet cover in light blue and navy with matching sheets.  Don't forget the formerly known planet Pluto with a cute little round throw pillow to puncutate the bed.

Once you have your bedding, there are so many ways to build around it to bring your space-themed room to life - or shall we say extra-terrestial life.  For example, seek a pale, smoky blue wall paint to create a space-like aura.  If you have floor, chair, or ceiling molding, consider painting it navy to bring visual depth to the room.  Consider wall decals, wall stickers or other hanging wall art of rocket ships, stars, and planets.  Or, try glow in the dark star stickers on the ceiling so your child can doze off while watching the stars of the galaxy.

If space is not your thing, see our other ideas for fun baby nursery and kids room themes.

Peace, Love & Flower Power for a Vintage Themed Nursery October 01 2009

[caption id="attachment_834" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Peace, Love, & Flower Power for a Vintage Themed Nursery"]Retro Baby Bedding & Decor with Flower Power[/caption] Baby boutique designer Bananafish is always so creative and they have done it again.  This modern take on the 70's brings nostalgia to any nursery - particularly those of us moms born in the 1970's.  Suited for a baby girl, we felt this nursery served as great inspiration for unique nursery colors and a one-of-a-kind vintage nursery theme.  Bright and sunny blues, oranges, and pinks quickly bring a smile to your face.  And, the brightly-colored with modern font L-O-V-E baby quilt brings the baby blanket well into this century.  The white baby furniture makes the bright colors pop particularly nicely. The nursery wall decor is just precious and shouldn't be hard to find. The flowers scream girl power!  Flower wall decals and wall stickers come in many styles and you're bound to find some you like.  The ones displayed will be helpful in creating little Austin Powers fans. Although somewhat hidden in the photo, the creative use of nursery wall hangings to spell love is clever and we like how they are positioned vertically down the wall.  You could also consider painting lettered wall stencils to create a similar look. The Raggedy Ann doll in the corner and the retro I love rock n' roll guitar add the finishing touches to this vintage themed nursery. The baby mobile and a few of the other items are at Target at a nice price. See our other nursery theme finds for more ideas.
