Pretty Pink Fabrics for the Nursery June 08 2013

weeDECOR designer Stacy Iest Hsu is known not only for the fabulous designs she's created for weeDECOR wall decals, but for her fabric designs as well. See her collection on Spoonflower to see more of her inspiring collection. We've chosen a few of our favorites to feature in our pretty pink nursery fabric post which we think you will agree is well beyond the traditional pretty in pink baby room look. patchwork_play We love this festive pink pattern, particularly whimiscal pink pattern for a throw pillow or quilt blocks. Celery green, watermelon pink, pale pink, peach, and grey create a collage of colors that can add delight to a nursery with any of the aforementioned base colors. For example, if you paint your walls pale pink, this pattern could bring a burst of color to the room. Likewise, if you paint it light grey, you'll see similar results. field_o_flowers_gray Grey is the new brown when it comes to pairing pink with a neutral color in your baby girl's nursery. This grey fabric with pink and white flowers can bring a more classic feel to a modern grey. We can envision this fabric This_little_piggy If playful is your style, this little piggy nursery fabric is too cute to pass up if you are decorating a piglet themed baby nursery. Details such as a helicopter hat for the little boy pig, a mommy pig pushing a baby piglet in a vintage baby stroller, and a girl pig holding a green umbrella are too cute to pass up. funny_bunny_love_pom_pom_pink Inspired by pom poms, this precious pastel pink and white pattern of dots and heart pom poms called Funny Bunny Pom Pom Pink will make any little girl's heart sing. We like this pattern for baby bedding for a traditional girl's nursery accented with white ribbons For more ideas on decorating your nursery with cute fabrics, see our other articles: Cute Safari Baby Room Fabrics and More Nature Themed Nursery Fabrics Bird Themed Baby Room Fabrics

Pretty Aqua Baby Rooms - a Modern Take on Traditional Blue June 05 2013

We couldn't help but notice a trend in aqua baby rooms. Bright and cheery, aqua can serve as a neutral color as it can handle many accent colors. See some gorgeous aqua nurseries we have found below. [caption id="attachment_5011" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Aqua and Pink Baby Nursery"]Aqua and Pink Baby Nursery[/caption] This aqua and pink baby nursery was designed by Mama Souter for her baby girl, Harper.  Mama Souter said she wanted, a "sweet girly vintage feel with a few modern touches". What a success! The frilly crib skirt with the vintage birds on the crib bumper are darling and were sewed by her mother-in-law. Her husband painted the tree mural peeking out in the corner of the photo. We love the texture of her bubble gum pink colored rug from Pottery Barn Kids. Note the shade of aqua paint on the walls is on the green side of aqua which lends itself to a minty-fresh look. Yummy! [caption id="attachment_5012" align="aligncenter" width="467" caption="Aqua and Yellow Baby Nursery"]Aqua and Yellow Baby Nursery[/caption] For a more gender neutral feel, see this aqua and yellow baby room by Susan Weinroth. Bright and bold, we love the two-toned turquoise walls that show off a deep aqua on the bottom half and a lighter shade of aqua paint of the top half to better reflect the light in the room. We are also fans of the giraffe lamp with a bold yellow lampshade. [caption id="attachment_5013" align="aligncenter" width="397" caption="Aqua and White Nursery"]Aqua and White Nursery[/caption] Back to the girly-girl baby room look, this pristine aqua and white nursery, close to a Tiffany blue, incorporates different patterns to add depth and dimension. Aqua and white polka dots, zig zaps, and fun alphabet wallpaper bring the "wow" to this nursery. This nursery, shown in vintage style, can easily be made to look more modern with modern furniture and other modern baby room decor elements. [caption id="attachment_5014" align="aligncenter" width="477" caption="Aqua and Orange Nursery Decor"]Aqua and Orange Nursery Decor[/caption] Speaking of modern nursery decor, an aqua and orange nursery is a great way to go all out modern. See Cate Create designed her son Sawyer's nursery in teal and orange with a woodsy theme featuring owls, squirrels, and deer. She made the mobile herself by cutting out leaves and stringing them together like garland. She hand-stamped the nursery pillows, framed the animal silhouettes, and made the owl pillow out of a towel and scrap fabric - a great DIY nursery! Wow! Loving this Unique Nursery Shelving Idea May 09 2013

[caption id="attachment_4957" align="aligncenter" width="512" caption="Loving This Unique Nursery Storage Idea"]Loving This Unique Nursery Storage IdeaLoving This Unique Nursery Storage Idea[/caption] This combination of nursery shelves as a way to create a decorative wall piece and serve as a functional storage solution is simply too beautiful not to share. Simply Yvonne provides a stunning view of these cute shelves in her baby's nursery and we're oh-so-glad she did! A yellow-green tinged wall paint provides a neutral background for the bright white shelves, perfectly spaced to create a delightful montage of baby related eye-candy. Each of the gorgeous little dresses in and of themselves create visual interest, let alone the collection of frames and stuffed animals along the shelves. Your eyes catch sight of the gorgeous photography of her little one and the related mementos. Books, standing picture frames, a piggy bank and more make each shelf that much more interesting. We also love the lime green Japanese lantern peeking out from the ceiling above. If you have a small space or your baby's room lacks a closet, this is a great way to improvise without sacrificing any aesthetic. Thanks for the idea, Simply Yvonne! Our Picks for Cute Big Kid Beds May 06 2013

Transitioning your toddler to a big kid bed is a momentous occasion. So, why not make the experience more fun and exciting for your little one (and for you) with these creative takes on a toddler bed. For high style, modern design, consider this white toddler bed from Oeuf. The sleek lines scream contemporary décor and you can choose from a lighter birch or darker walnut wood finish depending on your taste. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="473" caption="Toddler Bed - Oeuf"]oeuf toddler bed[/caption] For a touch more fun, see this modern toddler bed from Rafa Kids. The wheels add an extra touch of fun as your toddler can imagine sleeping in a bed shaped like a car and practical as they make moving the bed around the room easier. For a vintage look, this crib converted to a toddler bed or day bed is particularly unique when a canopy is added. We are in love with the red and white polka dot schematic that adds a festive look to the décor. Add other bright colors like pink and yellow and polka dot wall decals to turn your room into confetti-filled fun. We go Bah-Bah over Sheep Nursery Décor April 19 2013

One of the sweetest classic themes in nursery décor is the quintessential little lamb. So classic. So perfect for your little one. We just couldn’t help taking notice of so many beautiful baby nurseries incorporating this theme! Aside from being simple and sweet, we appreciate the gender and color neutrality the sheep design element brings to a baby’s room. Since most sheep come in white, you can add almost any accent color of your liking. For example, see this lovely grey and white sheep themed nursery designed for Charlotte in Austin, TX. The rich, elegant furnishings from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child bring a classic touch to a relatively modern color scheme. For a bolder look, consider black and white sheep décor as highlighted by Joni Lay on BHG.com. Bold, black accents such as the lamp and dresser shown in this inspiration board can make quite an impact. And, babies are attracted to high contrast colors which make this nursery that much more attractive. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Baa Baa Black Sheep - Better Homes & Gardens"]black sheep nursery[/caption] For a softer, more classic look, see how entertaining and lifestyle expert Jenny Steffens Hobick used pale blue and classic lamb décor from Pottery Barn Kids to decorate her lamb themed baby room. We especially like the lamb rocker—just darling! [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="483" caption="Emma's Nursery - Jenny Steffens Hobick"]lamb nursery[/caption] And, weeDECOR has several sheep wall decal designs to help augment your nursery décor. Our jumping sheep wall decal has three little sheep jumping over fences onto blades of grass. We also have a personalized sheep decal to make your baby’s nursery feel even more unique. Light It Up with Inspiring Nursery Lighting March 24 2013

Lighting can be an easy way to add a bit of pizzazz to your nursery or kid’s room. We are big fans of lanterns which not only serve a functional purpose of light, but add a festive look to any room. The beautiful spheres add billowy playfulness to the room that is difficult to do with other types of décor. Paper lanterns come in so many shapes and colors that it is easy to find a combination that suits your fancy. Let your creativity guide you! [caption id="attachment_5046" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Natural Pendant Nursery Light"]Natural Pendant Nursery Light[/caption] We found this regal-looking chandelier at Land of Nod—perfect for your little princess. The delicate glass beads would look just gorgeous hanging in the center of a room and they would glisten with perfection at the hint of sun or moonlight. Since this light is made of glass it would work with any color scheme you choose. If you’re looking for something different, get inspired by this nursery designed by Calgary designer Alykhan Velji. He is the creative genius behind this “wow” nursery and the use of a warehouse lamp to add delight to the room. You might be able to find something similar at your local antique store. While we’re at it, we also love the use of a non-traditional color palette of white, grey, and yellow. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="502" caption="Porcelain Stem Light - Benjamin Dino "]yellow nursery light[/caption] And if you’d like to keep it low key, we like this simple, neutral pendant light from Ikea. Not only does it have a great price ($29.99), the design is such that it would work in a variety of styled rooms. New Trend Old Tradition: Handmade Dolls March 18 2013

For those moms longing for the simplicity of times long ago, consider bringing back handmade dolls. We’ve seen so many darling designs as of late. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Apple of My Eye Organic Modern Doll - Petit Collage"]organic modern doll[/caption] San Francisco based Petit Collage has a 100% organic cotton and wool felt modern rag doll. This cutie called “Apple of My Eye”, would look lovely on a little girl’s bed. We love the bright green and red color combo, too. You can always count on Etsy when it comes to gorgeous handmade goods.  Jane Foster Designs, based in the UK has created a DIY package where you can make your own screen printed fabric doll. She sends you all the materials and you are good to go. For something a bit more classic, see Canadian Les Petites Mains handmade tag dolls. This doll looks so elegant with her slim arms and legs reminding us of a dancer. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="456" caption="Louise Soft Handmade Doll - Les Petites Mains"]classic handmade doll[/caption] The handmade doll trend does not have to be limited to little girls. These cute animal dolls by Etsy seller Sleepy King are just adorable.  Choose from squirrels, bunnies, dachshunds, and more. Your little boy is sure to appreciate a friend with which to cuddle. And, Mr. Pennyapple, sold by Etsy seller PiggyHatesPanda in Santa Cruz, CA, is a customizable doll with beautiful hand embroidered details. He is also a great option for your little boy. Just Discovered! Little Auggie for a Fresh Modern Nursery Look March 12 2013

We just discovered Little Auggie and had to share. Little Auggie is the creation of Toronto sisters Genevieve and Cristina. Genevieve is the creative genius behind the illustrations while Cristina is the brains behind the business. What a great combo this makes! [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="477" caption="Pony Love Nursery - Little Auggie"]pony nursery[/caption] We were struck by the simplicity of Little Auggie’s designs which pack such a powerful punch. Their take on a baby boy nursery blue is a bright pale blue bordering on aqua in a collection aptly named “Felix” for the cute little puppies sprinkled on the linens. Natasha is their take on girl’s nursery bedding as they boldly proclaim lilac as the “new pink”. The yellow and grey accents also add a touch of modern to the design. And, their matryoshka doll illustration is a nice change from traditional butterflies, flowers, and birds that you see in many girl bedding designs. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514" caption="Natasha Crib Sheet - Little Auggie"]matryoshka nursery[/caption] Little Auggie carries toddler bedding as well as layette sets and sleep sacks with the same fresh, modern look. And, they even have an adult line of bedding incorporating many of the modern design principles in their baby and kids line. See their quilts, pillows, and sheets if you’re looking to freshen up your bedroom. What’s more, Little Auggie’s products are made of luxurious 200 percale colorfast cotton in India. Winter got you down? Think Spring and Decorate with Green! March 04 2013

Emerald green was named Pantone’s color of the year for 2013 and what better reason to start thinking spring. The Pantone folks describe emerald as “a lively, radiant, lush green”. Such vibrant adjectives are sure to inspire a vibrant room! See how emerald green paired with bright canary yellow can create a gorgeous nursery in this fabulous nursery featured on all-things-baby blog TheBump. This nursery says “spring” all year round. We’re also a fan of the bold black accents such as the vintage stroller and sweet nightstand depicted in the design. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="520" caption="Project Nursery - The Bump"]green and yellow nursery[/caption] If you are challenged with finding matching décor in emerald green, consider using lime green, which is more broadly found in nursery designs. Lime green works well with a variety of blues, yellows, browns, and more making it versatile for decorating. For example, we’re in awe of this aqua and lime green nursery featuring a gorgeous lime green dresser made out of an old TV cabinet and a white changing table with lime green accents. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="528" caption="DIY Copper Planters - Poppytalk"]succulent copper planters[/caption] Another way to add green to your nursery décor is with the real thing – plants! Although we recommend keeping these well out of baby’s reach, consider copper planters & succulents to add green to your nursery. Inspiring Canadian design blog Poppytalk describes how to create DIY copper planters with succulents and ketchup. Yes – you read correctly. Ketchup. Succulents are low maintenance, which is perfect when you have a new baby. Hens and chicks and aloe vera are great non-toxic options (safe for toddlers). If real plants aren’t your thing, check out our selection of nature wall decals, which can give you that green look without the maintenance. Our most popular nature wall decal mural features traditional green leaves. You can also choose from green and yellow bird and owl accents. We also have a safari wall decal mural featuring green palm trees and shrubbery for that jungle look in green. Bring the Chic with Chevron in your Baby Nursery January 26 2012 1 Comment

I think we owe Missoni and Target a big "Thank You" for reminding all of us about the fabulousness that chevron has to offer in attire and decor. A little bold, a little zany, and totally unexpected, this print is popping up here, there, and everywhere thanks to a popularity boost of late. We've found some cute and creative ideas for moms and dads who wish to indulge in this latest trend. [caption id="attachment_4763" align="alignnone" width="540" caption="Of-the-moment color combination plus of-the-moment print = one gorgeous nursery"]chevron.nursery.wall[/caption] Let's start with the walls, shall we? Two great trends come together in this gorgeous nursery. The choice of grey and white for the walls somehow manages to make the chevron print look more understated because it allows the yellow to truly stand out. We love that this mom and dad decided to go chevron on one wall only. It keeps the project manageable it you're a do-it-yourselfer. There is something about that buttery yellow that softens the crisp lines of the chevron print. We're swooning over here! [caption id="attachment_4764" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Chevron in the Crib"]crib bedding.chevron.yellow.grey[/caption] Here is another great example of a grey/yellow/white that incorporates chevron prints. This look is slightly more subtle, as the bold print is kept to the bedding only and the rest of the decor is clean and simple. The crib becomes a stunning focal point of this room, and it certainly deserves the spotlight! This crib bedding by Carousel Designs is absolutely adorable, and the trim on the crib skirt is the icing on the cake. [caption id="attachment_4765" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Chevron is the perfect backdrop for these cute critters."]chevron.nursery.wall decor[/caption] Thinking of an animal-themed nursery? This wall decor we found on Etsy would make such a fabulous addition to your wee one's room. Cute little critters seem to leap from a chevron background, and the color combinations are just perfect. Lined up above the crib, what baby wouldn't want to gaze up at these fun prints? This is an easy, affordable way to add chevron to your nursery. [caption id="attachment_4766" align="alignnone" width="540" caption="Make a statement with a chevron rug"]Chevron rug.nursery decor[/caption] Can't forget the floors, can we? If you're looking to add some drama to your nursery or kid's room, this fun and funky rug might be the perfect find for you! The colors in this room are absolutely stunning. Who would have ever thought that a palette of turquoise, green, black, and white would produce such gorgeous results? The modern feel of the design elements here is the thread that ties all of the pieces together, and no individual piece seems to scream, "Look at me!"  This room is the embodiment of harmonious design. [caption id="attachment_4767" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Interesting colors, interesting prints"]chevron.nursery.rug[/caption] Here is another fabulous example of a unique color combination coupled with beautiful prints. This mom and dad opted for a kinder, gentler chevron rug. White and pale aqua take turns making their way from top to bottom and the overall look is borderline subtle. Toss is some bright, contrasting colors via linens and wall decor and you have an amazing nursery that has it all! Love this! [caption id="attachment_4768" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Outfit your wee one in chevron."]chevron.baby.clothes[/caption] Still hesitant about chevron? We know, we know. It's bold, it can be wild, it's not for everyone. If you can't commit to the use of chevron in your nursery decor, how about a sleeper? Your little one will look absolutely fabulous in this chevron one-piece. Still not sold on chevron after a month or two? No worries, your baby will outgrow it before you can possibly tire of such a fun print. We have so many ideas of both contemporary and traditional nursery decor on our blog. Seeing Stripes? Paint your Nursery in these Fun, Striped Patterns January 15 2012

Adding painted stripes to walls is an easy(ish) way to add visual interest and playfulness to any room. Whether you're looking to go bold with vibrant, contrasting colors or subtle with a cascade of tonal stripes, this design element is versatile enough to work in either situation. Take a peek at some of these gorgeous examples of stripes at play: [caption id="attachment_4756" align="alignnone" width="553" caption="File this under "fabulous.""]stripes.ceiling.room design[/caption] We love the baby blue/salmon color combination here and the details on that daybed are just incredible.  As the eye travels upward, it is met with the lovely pale blue wall and then WOW! Big, bold salmon stripes sweep across the ceiling and draw due attention to that incredible chandelier. Yes, our necks hurt just thinking about the logistics of painting stripes on the ceiling but in this case? Totally worth it! Kudos to Krista Salmon, the designer of the room, of Kiki's List. [caption id="attachment_4757" align="alignnone" width="450" caption="Another glorious color combination!"]striped ceiling. nursery[/caption] Dark meets light in this unique nursery! These parents got clever with color and opted to keep the walls free of objects to make the ceiling the focal point of the room. We love how the marigold color in the bedding is picked up in the stripes. Taking a cue from the crib, this mom and dad contrasted dark with light on the walls to make a bold statement in their little one's nursery. [caption id="attachment_4758" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="True blue, pale blue, and white wrap around this super-cute little boy's room."]kids.room.decor.stripes.[/caption] While some people shy away from blue walls due to their darkening effect, this mom and dad embraced the blue and brightened up their son's room by incorporating white stripes on the walls. Punctuated by unique accessories (that ceiling light! that crazy cool roman shade! the artwork), the result is a space that is tranquil yet fun, simple yet interesting. [caption id="attachment_4760" align="alignnone" width="480" caption="Stunning stripes in a stunning nursery"]nursery decor. stripes. [/caption] Striped walls definitely add visual interest to a room, but they also have the powerful effect of creating dimension, as evidenced in this beautiful blue and white nursery. Mom and dad opted to keep opposing walls white and used stripes to create depth in the sleeping/changing area of the room. We love the pale blue accents sprinkled here and there (the drawer pulls, the chandelier), but the striped friend on the wall brought the biggest smiles. This might be the one baby who looks forward to diaper changes, just to giggle and grin at the striped friend who watches over the changing table. [caption id="attachment_4759" align="alignnone" width="554" caption="Striped walls in a nautical themed nursery"]striped walls. nautical. nursery[/caption] Life's a beach for this lucky little one! A nautical-themed nursery practically demands stripes of some sort, and these parents kept it subtle. Creamy beige and soft white strips take turns around the room while the wall decor brings the fun. We love how the beige curtains fall on the beige stripes so the pattern is not disrupted. That takes some planning and incredible attention to detail. With a little practice, a little patience, and a LOT of painter's tape, you can add interest, fun, and depth to your nursery or kid's room. Striped walls are an inexpensive way to create a huge impact in your wee one's space. From stripes to wall decals to amazing accessories, we've found tons of examples of  knock-your-socks-off  nursery decor. Out with the Old, in With the...Old? Vintage is Back with a Vengeance January 05 2012

The year 2012 is barely off the ground and we’re already seeing some fabulous trends emerging for nurseries everywhere! Inspired by the traditions and customs of simpler times, moms and dads are going vintage with their nursery décor. We’ve found some incredible design elements that will bring a sense of nostalgia to your nursery without compromising the modern conveniences or the safety of your wee ones. [caption id="attachment_4746" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="This beautiful bedding is reminscent of popular dress patterns of the 1920s."][/caption] Serena & Lily is a company that is well-known for stunning bedding and room décor, and their Collette bedding collection doesn’t disappoint. Designers looked back almost 100 years to find the inspiration for this bedding. French dress prints from the 20’s served as the influence for this gorgeous crib set with its quirky, vintage look that is updated with a contemporary pink/gray color combination. While this collection embraces the look of nurseries past, rest assured that the linens were made with high-quality cotton sateen. A retro look and modern luxury? Sounds like a win-win to us! [caption id="attachment_4747" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Extraordinary details set this crib apart."]Poster Iron Crib from Posh Tots[/caption] The perfect vintage bedding demands an equally-appealing bed, don’t you think? Safety standards for cribs have changed drastically over the years, so this is one area where authentic vintage may not by the best route. Luckily, vintage-look cribs are popping up everywhere. One of our favorites is this poster iron crib from Posh Tots. The intricate detailing is positively swoon-worthy and reminiscent of cribs from long ago. The stationary sides and varying mattress positions will save your back and give you peace of mind, as will Posh Tots’ guarantee that the crib meets all current safety standards. [caption id="attachment_4748" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="This super-creative design element won't break the bank."]Vintage Nursery Decor[/caption] Now, on to the décor! We love this idea found on Design Dazzle. A mom scored some darling vintage dresses from a clothing store that was shutting down and, with the help of some twine, added softness and dimension to her daughter’s walls. So clever! This is proof that designing a nursery with a vintage theme does not have to break the bank! Shop your local flea market for some inspiration and adorable accents. Adding vintage touches to your nursery is just one way to personalize your little one's room. For more fantastic ideas for nursery decor, see our customer photos.

weeDECOR's Top Nursery Decorating Trends of 2011 December 25 2011

Curious? We were, too! So we tracked down the top trends in nursery decorating for 2011. See what we've found! 5. Minimalism [caption id="attachment_4740" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="This mom and dad create a simple and serene space for their little one."]nursery decor. nursery trends[/caption] A long-time favorite of urban dwellers, minimalistic décor has made its way to nurseries across the US. We’ve seen some absolutely stunning kids’ rooms that scream “serenity.” While minimalistic design may seem easy (just pick one or two things and keep it simple), it actually requires more thought, more research, and more precision. Parents who use this approach to nursery décor must pick from what can be an overwhelming amount of products in an effort to find that one piece of art, that one wall decal, that one piece of furniture to serve as the statement piece for the room. We all know how easy it is to get sucked into the 12-piece nursery bedding set! With a valance! And blanket! And nightlight! And rug! And drawer pulls! And on and on! By paring down to the basic essentials, accenting with one or two design elements and creatively using color, parents are creating refined, sophisticated nurseries for their babies. We particularly like this minimalist nursery we found on ChicCheapNursery. 4. Begging, Borrowing, & Stealing The popularity of Pinterest has absolutely exploded in 2011! This social discovery platform now boasts up to 3 million users, and once you spend an hour (or six!) on the site, it’s easy to see why people are gravitating to pinterest for design inspiration. Moms everywhere are able to “beg” for feedback, “borrow” a concept and modify it to make it their own, and “steal” creative and unique ideas of other crafty parents when designing their nurseries. Pinterest gives parents access to a world of clever, beautiful, and sometimes profound collections of images and tutorials. While you’re on the hunt, visit weeDECOR’s pinterest page to see some of our favorite finds. 3. Form, meet Function in these Darling Nightlights [caption id="attachment_4741" align="alignnone" width="277" caption="This tabletop giraffe nightlight would look fabulous in an animal-themed nursery."]nightlight[/caption] Nursery nighlights are a must for new parents! There is no better way to avoid fumbling around blindly for the burp cloth while keeping things on the dark side so that baby is compelled to go back to sleep after the feeding. This year, we have come across some absolutely adorable nightlights for nurseries. Gone are the days of the pitiful little plastic piece with exposed light bulb that is relegated to the corner of the room. Moms and dads are integrating decorative nightlights into their themed nurseries. The one above from Jonathan Adler is one of the cutest we’ve seen! This nightlight is more of a design element, and less of an afterthought. 2. Growth Charts [caption id="attachment_4742" align="alignnone" width="420" caption="Track your wee one's growth with our removable, reusable, growth chart wall decal."]growth charts. wall decals[/caption] Who is more surprised by the rate that children grow, the parents, or the kids themselves? It’s tough to make that call. Decorative growth charts are all the rage in nurseries and kids rooms this year because parents and children delight in having something tangible to track what is happening before their very eyes. In 2011, we’ve seen some unique variations on the standard paper-version of growth charts. At weeDECOR, we have an adorable collection of growth chart wall decals. Our designs are interactive, meaning the kids can take part in marking their height each year. Our friends over at Petite Lemon offer another interesting spin on this design element with their canvas growth charts. 1. Non-traditional paint colors [caption id="attachment_4743" align="alignnone" width="349" caption="This Canadian mom just said "no" to baby blue."][/caption] This year, we've seen a radical departure from overly babyish nurseries. Some parents are selecting furniture and design elements that grow with the child. So instead of completely revamping the room as the child ages, parents just switch out the accessories and leave the major features the same. One way to accomplish this look is through the use of non-traditional paint colors in the nursery. The nursery above features a sophisticated dove gray wall color. A Canadian mom enveloped her baby's nursery in Benjamin Moore's Collingwood OC-28, but incorporated some child-like accessories. The room doesn't scream "baby," but isn't overly mature, either. This mom, like many others this year, chose a paint color that will see her baby well into the teen years.

A Classic Pink Baby Nursery Designed by Little Crown Interiors for Muhammad Ali's Grandaughter September 18 2011

[caption id="attachment_4509" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Mother Laila Ali's Classic Pink Baby Nursery"]Mother Laila Ali's Classic Pink Baby Nursery[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4510" align="alignnone" width="495" caption="The Hope Crib in Pink in Baby Ali's Nursery"]The Hope Crib in Pink in Baby Ali's Nursery[/caption] We have always been huge fans of the work of Little Crown Interiors and this celebrity nursery is no different. Well, it's a little different in that Naomi and Gerri, the founders of Little Crown were hired by Muhammad Ali's daughter, Laila, to decorate her daughter Sydney's nursery. How exciting! You can read more about the project on Project Nursery, but we thought we would share the highlights. We love that this nursery features the Hope Crib. As you may recall from one of our earlier posts, Little Crown Interiors in conjunction with Southern California based luxury furniture maker, Newport Cottages, developed the Hope Crib to support breast cancer research. Each Hope Crib comes with a custom plaque for the owners to inscribe a sentiment of their choosing; on Sydney’s, the inscription reads, “Unconditionally Loved and Eternally Blessed.” To adorn the crib, Little Crown chose an organic Naturalmat mattress and custom crib bedding by Carousel Designs.  Above the crib features breathtaking custom artwork piece from Art.coma large photo of Muhammad Ali holding his infant daughter Laila, stretched onto canvas, a very personal element and a key focal point in the room. On each side of the stretched canvas are matching mirrors by Pottery Barn Kids. The nursery glider and coordinating ottoman were made by SPI Baby and the Newport Cottages toy box was custom painted to match Laila Ali’s nursery color scheme. Lovely Lavender & Brown Polka Dot Decor for Audrey in Texas July 08 2011

Texas mom and 7 year old daughter Audrey put together this pretty lavender girl's room that shines! Mom tells weeDECOR, "I'm emailing you photos of my daughter's room which turned out beautifully thanks to the piece I bought from weeDECOR! We love it!" The decorating project started when Audrey wanted a "big girl room" in her favorite shade of violet that could grow with her for several years. So, mom got to work with some super creative decorating ideas and lovely handmade finishing touches. Mom shares, "The polka dot bedding set and curtains are made by JoJo Designs in the theme of 'Mod Dots' polka dot design in purple and brown. Most accessories including the lamp, pillow, purple finials and tie-backs, etc. are from Target's Circo Collection." Now, here's where mom's creativity comes in to play. She explains, "The furniture is actually MY OWN childhood furniture purchased by my parents in 1977 which I lovingly refinished entirely in white - including new hardware, paint, etc. It was made by Bassett. The mirror over her dresser is an antique which used to be gold and I redid in a shabby/distressed white." We inquired about her lovely wall hangings and Mom divulged, "Yes, I actually made the picture frame collage / wall hanging myself comprised of Disney Princess pictures and a picture of my daughter dressed as Cinderella. The idea was that the wall hangings can grow with her and as she grows. For example, the princess photos will be changed out to pictures of her with friends, cheerleading, etc. I used violet, faux-leather in different lengths and secured them over a white wrought iron bar attached to violet faux-leather covered frames." "Lastly, the perfect accent paint we chose to compliment her décor was Valspar eggshell in "Purpling Dawn" that I purchased at Lowe's. We topped it off with a white ceiling fan along with your BEAUTIFUL weeDecor polka dot personalized wall decal which matched the Mod Dots theme PERFECTLY and voila! Just gorgeous!  A big thanks to mom and Audrey for sending in their photos. A Precious Aqua & Yellow Baby Room with weeDECOR Wall Decals July 06 2011 2 Comments

We think this aqua and yellow nursery is one of those rooms. We were delighted to help this Canadian mom decorate her baby room and were even more delighted that she was willing to share her decorating secrets with our readers. She told us, "I would LOVE if you could include my nursery pictures on your blog...the blog was SO helpful to me when I was deciding how to design my space. I would love to be a part of it!" We're so glad! Now, on to mom's secrets... She shares, "Since I didn't know the gender of the baby, I had to stick with a gender neutral theme so I thought the tree wall decal with the owls would be appropriate. The paint color on the walls is Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue and the ceiling is painted a light sunshine yellow color, Benjamin Moore Vellum." She further describes, "The baby bedding is from a company called Sweet Kyla and is called 'Cabana'. The crib is a Stork craft crib (Madison Stages) and I decided to paint the front of the drawers on the change table the same color as the walls." We love those drawers! "The dresser was my baby dresser, so it's over 30 years old.  It was refinished and painted white and the drawers, too, were also painted the same color as the walls.  I added crystal knobs to the dresser as well as change table drawer," she finishes. Finally, mom says, "I wanted to thank you for your helpfulness and professionalism. My husband and I LOVE the wall decals and we loved putting them together. I will certainly recommend your company to my family and friends. It was a great experience!" We couldn't be more pleased with the results ourselves. A Sweet and Delicate Nursery for Liv with weeDECOR Fabric Wall Decals May 16 2011

[caption id="attachment_4336" align="alignnone" width="430" caption="Baby Liv's Nursery with Personalized Owl and Tree Fabric Wall Decals"]Baby Liv's Nursery with Personalized Owl and Tree Fabric Wall Decals[/caption] For moms who would like to keep their baby room simple yet chic, here’s a design approach that could definitely inspire you. We send out a big thanks to Liv's mom for sending in photos of her baby girl's nursery! The central piece for mom in her baby's room is her classic-styled, bright white crib from Babies R Us. The crib is such a stunning piece that it is easy to decorate around it. First, to warm it up, mom gave it a splash of color by using a pale pink crib sheet perfect for baby girl Liv. She also chose a warm, but neutral shade of paint to highlight her crib and, of course, our wall decals. We love how the wall paint perfectly complements the nature wall decals? The eco-friendly baby room paint is Benjamin Moore's "Montgomery White". On the left side of the crib, mom places a simple lamp from Bed Bath and Beyond, and hangs a cute pink bunny from it to give it a touch of playfulness. Peeking out from the other corner is this animal patterned crib bedding called "All Creatures Great and Small" from The Land of Nod. It’s gender-neutral so perfect for baby boys and girls. Enriching the nature theme of the room, Liv’s mom makes use of our classic tree wall decal in mocha embellishing with blue and lavender bird wall decals and adorable pink owl wall decals. She applies her tree wall decal just beside the crib. You’ll also find our personalized owl wall decal perched quietly on the tree branch watching over baby Liv in her crib. With the same shade of pink, Liv’s mom used our classic type style to spell out Liv’s name – giving it that intimate, personalized look. Other tree friends watch over Liv in the form of lavender birds, flying around, standing, and peeking over the crib. If you wanted to go a bit more "girly", you could use butterfly wall decals instead of birds and even try some flower wall decals. We love how this nature look with classic crib is so easy on the eyes, not to mention very relaxing. This theme is not only for baby girl rooms though – it can also be used for little boys’ rooms as well. Just play around the color shades and voila – a nature inspired nursery room for your little boy! Thanks, again, mom! Your taste is exquisite…you took into consideration everything my daughter was looking to have in her dream nursery,” Grandma told Little Crown Interiors. From the before and after photos of the room, you will see how our wall decals helped turn this baby room into butterfly heaven with a custom wall decal mural. The room’s overall theme played with pale pink giving it a soft touch of femininity accented by butterflies and flowers in varying shades of green, pink, yellow and blue to complete the look. Colorful weeDECOR flower wall decals can be seen surrounding the room, sprouting from the ground with vines that crawl majestically on the wall – all larger than life to further create that enchanted look. What a Fine Day in the Garden! A Pink & Lavender Nature Themed Nursery from a Bay Area Mom April 24 2011

[caption id="attachment_4182" align="alignnone" width="491" caption="Pink & Lavender Girl Nursery with weeDECOR's Brown Classic Tree Wall Decal"]tree wall decal, pink nursery, lavender nursery[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4183" align="alignnone" width="491" caption="Brianna's Personalized Owl Wall Decor with Butterflies"]owl nursery wall decor, owl wall decals, pink nursery owl wall letters, owl wall letters for a baby room[/caption] How calming is it to be surrounded with colorful butterflies and flying little birds as if nestled in a serene, beautiful garden? This is exactly how we felt the moment we saw Brianna’s nursery - thanks to our mom from the San Francisco Bay Area. Brianna’s mom used our classic tree wall decal in rich chocolate brown as the highlight of her nursery and placed it just over the changing table providing the nice illusion of nature and sitting under a tree. Our standing bird wall decals in yellow and purple were also used to complete the visual, painting an inanimate picture of a beautiful garden on a nice day. To further accessorize the tree, Brianna’s mom added weeDECOR’s owl wall decals in purple perfectly complementing the wall paint of the nursery. The two-toned wall paint in pale pink and lavender in harmony with the purple owl wall decals set the cozy and serene ambiance of Brianna’s nursery. The paint is from Disney's line at Home Depot ("Hopeful" and "One Enchanted Evening"). Embellishing the theme of Brianna’s nursery are our heart butterfly wall decals in pink. Like a mom’s abundant love for her child, this San Francisco mom filled her baby’s walls with heart-shaped butterflies in pale pink and green accents, bringing nature to the baby's room. Watching over Brianna’s crib is our personalized owl wall decal in pale pink with classic type style. The owl sits perfectly still in a tree branch surrounded with birds and butterflies overlooking the crib. The crib bedding, the pretty polka dot rug and the clock used to accessorize the nursery were all from Pottery Barn Kids while the chair is from Babies r Us – all perfectly color coordinated to match and complement each other. And, mom added cherry wood furniture from Costco to give balance to the softer colors in the room. Thanks mom for sending in your photos! We love how you perfectly put together all the owl, tree, bird, alphabet and heart-shaped butterfly decals to embellish your little angel’s room. Divine Elegance! A Pink & Grey Elephant Themed Nursery from a PA Mom April 08 2011 1 Comment

Her mom has an eye for design as you can see with this elegant pink and grey elephant themed nursery. To get this look, this Pennsylvania couple started decorating their baby's room with a pretty shade of pale grey wall paint. Called “Sweet Innocence” by Benjamin Moore, we are in awe of how this shade of grey screams “elegance” just perfectly.  The slightly muted shade of paint allows the bright white and pale pink accents to dance off the wall. For her crib, mom chose Restoration Hardware Baby & Child’s pink and grey baby bedding. Notice how the pretty pink, grey and white striped sheets and grey crib skirt add that touch of detail and elegance mom? The decadently pink curtains in the nursery are also from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child. For other elegant decorative accents, mom got creative with ceiling décor by hanging a faux white chandelier from Urban Outfitters. Cleverly, mom and dad covered the cord with the grey and white damask fabric that covers the white glider. Ah, damask - another small but powerful detail that brings elegance to the baby’s room! Finally, for wall décor, mom chose our personalized elephant parade wall decal in grey and pale pink spelling baby Audrey’s name in our classic type style. She also decorated with a towering white tree wall decal (not seen in the photo) to bring in a bit more playfulness as well as a pink and grey stuffed baby elephant strategically placed on the end table. Thanks, mom, for sharing Audrey’s elegant pink and grey elephant themed baby nursery with weeDECOR. Your nursery is divine! Take their new floral garden bedding, for example. A gorgeous garden it is as it would make any baby girl giggle with delight with her garden themed nursery. The bedding set is embellished with floral hand appliqués and garden-themed embroidery. Appliqué garden blooms are on one side of the quilt and printed pink diamonds decorate the other. The printed garden bumper is conveniently reversible and the coordinating fitted sheet and changing pad are printed with the pretty pale pink diamond pattern. We may be biased but we think your fabulous garden themed nursery would be even more delightful with our classic flower garden wall decal featuring soft curvy tulips, sunflowers and bouquet wall decals. Enhance with butterfly wall decals, bird wall decals, or bee wall decals. To lean a bit more contemporary consider our bold and beautiful modern flower garden wall decals.  Clean lines and an illustration style that the MOMA would love personify this wall decal set. Finally, for a more custom look, try our new personalized tulip garden wall decals.  Launched just a week ago, this product is proving to be a best seller already. Arrange these wall decals to your liking.  How cute is this version of tulips growing outside green letters? [/caption] Lovely, lovely lavender. A less common nursery color than pink, but no less gorgeous, we found some decorating pieces to help you design your lavender baby nursery. These lavender nursery décor pieces err on the classic side to help bring out that soft romantic feel. You’ll find antique whites and dark espresso browns mixed in to lighten or add depth to your lavender décor. Lavender - what a romantic color for a baby girl’s nursery! Clockwise, starting from the top, find weeDECOR’s lovely ladybug parade wall decals in lavender and chocolate brown perched atop an antique white painted shelf with decorative floral appliqués from PoshTots. Next find a coordinating classic oval mirror in lavender to add softness (also from PoshTots) behind a super cute weeDECOR polka dot owl wall decal. For lighting, consider this lavender gingham table lamp with a romantic, flared lampshade from Petit Tresor. Choose from among three shades of lavender wall paint all from Serena & Lily – Shell, Lilac and Hydrangea. Whether you want to go lighter or darker, Serena & Lily’s low VOC and low odors wall paint has a shade of lavender paint for you. For lavender nursery wall decor, these 3d wall butterflies from Etsy seller HipAndClavicle are deliciously sweet. Our personalized bird on a branch wall decal is also a lovely piece. Or, consider a bigger statement with weeDECOR's classic flower garden wall decals for a wall mural in your lavender nursery. This wall decal set includes various sized tulip wall decals, a sunflower, other flowers and a pretty little lavender butterfly wall decal. If you are putting together an animal themed nursery, see weeDECOR’s adorable and very popular lavender hippo wall decal which leans in to smell the pretty flowers on our mood board. To add darker contrast to your lavender nursery, we love this classic crib in espresso called the Mini Anabelle Crib by Million Dollar Baby (a non-toxic finish and PB safe) and sold by BabyShack. For more romantic touches, we adore this stunning lavender and pink scroll area rug from PoshTots with vine and tiny flower motifs. For another charming wall accent, consider weeDECOR’s lavender bird on a branch wall decal to place above your changing table or dresser. This nursery wall decal would also look cute peeking out from a corner in your baby girl's room. To add some lighter contrast to your lavender nursery, this artisan made Moroccan white leather pouf from Serena and Lily could serve as a gorgeous ottoman or decorative accent in your baby’s room. Handmade, embroidered, then filled with dense cotton filler possibly making this the perfect pouf. As we round back to twelve o’clock on our inspiration board, our modern lavender bird wall decal is a cute wall décor piece for a lavender themed bird room. And, just for kicks, we finish off our inspiration board with lavender-colored Paulette Macarons in the center. Yum! See our Pretty in Pink inspiration board for ideas for decorating a pink nursery.

[caption id="attachment_3788" align="alignnone" width="440" caption="Decorating Ideas for a Pink Baby Nursery"]Decorating Ideas for a Pink Baby Nursery[/caption] Looking for ideas for decorating your baby girl's nursery? At weeDECOR we are always seeking inspiring nursery decor. We thought we'd share with you some of our favorite pink nursery decorating inspiration in order to get your creative juices humming. This inspiration board includes pieces from many of our favorite brands and, of course, some of our favorite pink nursery wall decals. One of the highlights is this pink chandelier from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child. Called the "Aster 3 Arm", this gorgeous piece has pink glass teardrops and beads with petal-shaped flourishes that serve as "candle" holders. We found inspiration from Serena & Lily in the form of their Florentine" patterned pink and mocha crib sheets as well as in their bird themed table lamp and their signature letter pillow. The bird table lamp is made of white paper mache with two birds perched on a lucite base. The pink throw pillow can be personalized with your baby girl's initial and is a wonderful baby shower gift for mom-to-be. For a bit of personality, we love this bitty baby stuffed rabbit by Etsy seller RabbitRabbitSofties. And, of course, weeDECOR nursery wall decals are a fabulous way to add whimsy and fun to your pink nursery decor. This inspiration board features our nature wall decal mural in pink, our flying birds in pink, and our pink modern flower garden wall decals. We love the curvature of this table & chair set from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child. A nightstand with similar lines would be a delightful decorative accent for your classic or vintage pink nursery. You can't go wrong with the Oeuf Classic Crib. This stylish modern crib is sure to be a classic for years to come. Finally, if you are striving for a modern pink nursery, bring in coordinating paint in shades of grey or mocha. The above wall paint shades from Behr from left to right are: Simple Silhouette & Granite Boulder & Sterling & Lunar Light. These neutral colors can tone down a too-cutesy, pink baby girl room and bring in that modern feel.

While we love our how this mom used our nursery wall decals, we were particularly struck by her two-toned painted walls in the baby’s room. Note how she uses a pale yellow paint as her primary color. The paint color is Benjamin Moore's Lemon Meringue. Then, she painted her accent wall in bright pink called Crushed Berries, also by Benjamin Moore. This pink and yellow color combination is ingenious because it makes both colors brighter and brings more visual interest to the baby’s room. Your eye can’t help but be drawn to the color in a “yin and yang” sort of way. Mom used our gorgeous modern flower wall decal mural to decorate her baby girl’s room. The decal set comes with tulip wall decals, sunflower wall decals, and butterfly and bird wall decals. Her cute pink and green hanging crib mobileis called JuicyFruit and is from TrendLab. Precious little watermelons and strawberries with percale and paisley striped twill dangle just beyond baby’s reach. The white crib helps make the room feel light and airy and the wall decals add the playfulness and whimsy. Thanks, mom, for sending us photos of your wall decals. Lovely Lavender Owl Themed Nursery for Jenna September 08 2010

[/caption] We were psyched to help this Massachusetts mom with her owl and nature themed, lavender nursery for baby girl Jenna. And, it looks like Jenna is very happy with it as well. Mom tells us, “My one year old loves her tree and little friends. We say goodnight to everyone each night before bed.” We love those smiles! To get this lovely lavender look, mom started with Benjamin Moore’s Beach Plum lavender paint. She then purchased a variety of weeDECOR wall decals to embellish and create Jenna’s nature scene. She decorated with our personalized owl branch wall decal in lavender and our smiley type style above the white crib. To decorate the rest of the room, she chose our classic tree wall decal in chocolate brown which adds nice contrast to the soft lavender and white accessorized room. She added weeDECOR’s butterfly wall decals, bird wall decals, owl wall decals, and a sweet baby turtle wall decal. We love the angled picture frame collage she designed with our butterfly wall decals and a few family photos in silver frames. Precious! Mom tells us, “I have received so many compliments and people always think it is paint - they can't believe they are decals. They really are beautiful quality.” For the finishing touches, mom chose an owl throw pillow and green butterfly lamp from Target. But, we must admit, the owl picture done by Jenna’s 7 year old obviously artistically-inclined sister is the true star of this show. Big thanks to this Massachusetts mom for sharing Jenna’s nursery with weeDECOR. See other weeDECOR customers' photos for more ideas on how to use weeDECOR wall decals in your nursery decor.

In a bold, hot pink, this classic pattern is suddenly fresh and modern. So don’t be color shy when decorating your girl’s room like the designers of this nursery with pink damask wallpaper designed for the Junior League of Toronto Show House. Nestled within the McLean House, a large scale mansion with equally grand-sized windows and doors with deep molded jambs, this nursery is adorned with a white shag rug, white painted chair rails, and cute wall hangings of framed doll clothes. The large silk swath of satin around the oval crib and three-panel dressing mirror add to the glam as well as the elegant butterfly wall decals embellishing the storage area. Damask works well in a toddler girl’s room as well. Note how the pink damask wallpaper is used on an accent wall in this little girl’s room featured by Britain’s Ideal Home. Using the damask wallpaper on an accent wall ensures the bold print does not overwhelm the room. And, a simple white duvet with a bit of texture, a few throw pillows, and simple white drapes are all that are needed to dress up the rest of the room. Their nursery decorating vision takes into consideration luxury, innovation, safety, and well-planned functional spaces to bring you the look of a designer baby nursery. Their latest work of art is an Asian inspired nursery in aqua, lime, and hot pink for the clients of an adopted Korean girl.  How lucky is this baby girl?  If you haven’t heard, aqua, turquoise, and Tiffany blue are the latest color trends in modern nursery décor and Little Crown Interiors uses them beautifully. The bright green tree wall decal is stunning (although, we may be biased given our preference for wall decals) with birds and dragonflies embellishing the tree.  The darker, chocolate brown glider is a great way to tone down the vibrant colors as well as give you a piece that can move from room to room when the nursing years are over. And, the hot pink shag carpet brings texture to the eye and coziness for the feet. See our other articles on: Asian inspired nursery decor Designer nurseries from Little Crown Interiors How to use tree wall decals in your baby nursery Or, see weeDECOR’s selection of tree wall decals which you can customize with birds, owls, and butterflies to create your own nature scene.  Many of these nature embellishments come in a sweet shade of soft aqua.

For your no calorie candy of the day, we encourage you to check out these designer nurseries from Jack and Jill Interiors. Jack and Jill Interiors is a design firm run by celebrity kid’s room interior designer Sherri Blum who has been featured in People and HGTV. Their design style runs traditional with an emphasis on customization that allows your child’s personality to shine through the décor of the room. For example, this pretty baby girl’s garden themed nursery in green and pink incorporates a traditional soft green and pink color palette with both delicate and vibrant accents to bring liveliness to the room. We love the mint green wall paint and the butterfly accents on the walls and sheer curtain for that delicate touch. Yet, we appreciate how the bright and vibrant floral rug is brought in without overwhelming the room. That is the brilliance of a great interior designer! And, don’t miss Sherri’s own “Dream” garden wall art above the crib, part of her customized line of wall art. This preppy nautical themed nursery is also adorable. The white wainscoting accented with pale blue wall paint gives this nursery its decadently rich and classic look. A classic-styled blue crib with soft curvature adds to the sense of serenity to the baby’s room. The crib even evokes the feeling of a boat sailing at sea. We particularly like the little seating nook Sherri created under a pleated pale blue window valence accented with a cute blue teddy bear and pale blue throw pillows. Finally, we wanted to highlight this transportation themed boy’s room with planes and trains and a punchy stripe of orange paint in the middle of the wall. The personalized plane above the little boy’s bed and the train next to the window are painted wall murals. And, we can’t help but notice how perfectly the blue lamp shade matches the window treatments. Jack and Jill Interiors provides complete design and decorating services for the nursery, bedroom, bathroom or playroom for children from the infant through teenage years anywhere you are located. They will help you with fabric and paint selection and with coordinating furniture and accessories. Don't be shy about contacting them if you're looking for a little bit of inspiration and help. Ms. Blum also has a line of nursery décor and nursery wall art. Here Comes the Sun! Decorate a Sunflower Themed Girl's Nursery April 03 2010

[caption id="attachment_3062" align="aligncenter" width="527" caption="Sunflower Wall Decals for a Baby Nursery or Kid's Room"]Sunflower Wall Decals for a Baby Nursery or Kid's Room[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2259" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sunflower Wall Art for a Kid's Room"]Sunflower Wall Art for a Kid's Room[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2258" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sunflower Lamp for a Kid's Room"]Sunflower Lamp for a Kids Room[/caption] Native to the Americas, sunflowers are a big, friendly flower that can bring a lot of smiles to a baby girl’s room. We also like sunflower themed rooms because it is a theme that is not overly used and lends lots of flexibility. It’s not too baby and it is appropriate as your baby girl grows. So as not to be too flowery, skip the floral bedding and use basic solid colored sheets and blankets to decorate. Get creative with wall décor and other room accents to create your sunflower theme. And, don’t think you have to stick with yellow and brown. Kids room decorating gives you license to bring in other colors like orange and pink. Our pretty sunflower wall decals are a beautiful way to create a wall mural with no mess. Align these modern sunflower wall decals along a base board for a sunflower garden affect. With bright yellow centers, pink petals, and apple green leaves, there’s a lot of opportunity to bring in vibrant colors into your décor. This yellow and orange sunflower canvas wall hanging is sure to bring delight to any nursery, girl’s room, or playroom. Designed by Lorena Siminovich, the art uses simple shapes and patterns to create a unique collage depicting a modern sunflower. It is an Oopsy Daisy canvas reproduction recreated digitally and then stretched by hand over a wood frame for a finished look. This piece does not require framing. Finally, this yellow sunflower table lamp is more classic in style. We like the lamp base with the little fence and the pretty green leaves lining the lamp shade. A nice price at $40 and a nice accent for an end table. See our other articles on creating a tulip themed baby room and see this gorgeous flowered wallpaper for a girl's room.

For example, how precious would this upholstered princess chair be in a reading nook in the corner of a room? Called “Bubble Gum” for its yummy color combination, this fabulous pink and green polka dot fabric has an equally cute matching ottoman that serves as storage (sold separately). We love the rounded curvature in the chair back and the elegance of the draped fabric around the bottom of the chair and ottoman. The chair also comes in a matching crib bedding set and hand painted memory box. Add inspiration to arts and crafts time with this rose and striped, hand painted table and chair set. The table has handy storage compartments for crayons and paper and the chairs may be personalized with your child’s name or monogram – especially fun if you have two princesses at home. If your room is country French princess style, this provencal stool in bright pink and white is delightful. Perfect for helping your princess get to hard-to-reach places or providing her with a convenient seat, the stool can be personalized in decorative type. Spring is here and our tulips are just starting awake from their winter slumber. Such a nice reminder of the beauty tulips bring when decorating a home!  Even better, tulips bring lovely color to a baby girl’s nursery. Go with classic colors like pink and purple or try more modern with yellow and orange.

We found some fabulous options for your tulip themed nursery.

Consider our tulip wall decals that can be personalized with your baby girl's name. These tulip wall decals look like a garden and your baby's name adds that personal touch.

See this tulip baby bedding set from popular baby home decor designer Dwell Studio. The pale pink and white lattice patterned crib sheet is just precious in combination with a reversible bumper adorned with bright and light pink tulips on one side and pink and white stripes on the other.

For the DIY mom, tulip wall stencils are a great option. There are thousands of tulip wall stencil patterns out there and a tulip design can be simple enough to make on your own. For more guidance, see these instructions on how to stencil a tulip garden in your child’s room. Paint a tulip row like this one at the base board or right above a chair rail.

For other cute tulip nursery décor, consider what you can do with lighting. This tulip themed table lamp from Land of Nod would look perfect on a table next to your glider. We love the woven basket flower pot look for a classically designed tulip themed nursery.

For a more modern look, this yellow tulip pendant light made of felt is fun. It comes in modern colored orange and dark green as well to add a unique touch to a modern tulip themed girl’s room.

Priding themselves on a selection of home furnishings that are as stylish in other parts of the home as they are in the nursery, find hand painted furniture and decorative accessories such as wall art, lamps, tables and chairs, rocking chairs, step stools, and toy chests. We think their appealing and vast selection of wall art, such as these butterfly wall hangings, is the most notable of their offering. Part of a collection called “Girls Rule”, this 6” x 6” pink and white butterfly gallery wrapped wall canvas is a classic colored piece of art with modern flair.  You can also find flowers and modern polka dots in the collection if you like the style. Part of their “Cookies and Cream” collection, this 11" x 14" butterfly gallery wrapped wall canvas uses a giclee printing process for richness.  This piece would be great in a whimsical styled baby nursery with other butterfly and floral décor.  The sage green and pale pink with a touch of chocolate brown is particularly nice.   Finally, for a contemporary look, “Flutterbies” is a 6” x 6” piece of modern butterfly wall art that shines with its bright oranges, blues, yellows, and greens.  This piece would beautifully accent a playroom or modern girl’s nursery. Decorate with Dainty, Dancing Ballerina Wall Art & Decor for Baby Girls February 01 2010

It’s not necessary to go all out with a ballet themed room – unless you so desire – as the ballerina’s daintiness and delicateness is her strength.  Ballerina wall art, ballet wall décor, or maybe even a music box, is all you need to create dreams of dancing for your baby girl. The Frog and the Princess is an online luxury children’s boutique with a nice selection of ballet themed wall art and décor.  Wall hangings, clocks, growth charts, and more, they also have cute ballet sheets and ballerina bedding.  We like this tutu wall hanging hand painted on a 16"x20" canvas with a real ribbon. The ribbon adds very nice visual dimension.  The wall hanging is on a gallery wrapped canvas and can be hung with or without a frame.  For a daintier look, we’d recommend hanging it without the frame with a pretty pink or white ribbon. We also like this classic-styled ballet shoe wall hanging printed on 11"x15" paper. This one is finished with a hand crafted frame.  Choose from 6 framing options - 4 solid colors and 2 weathered wood frames that best match your girl’s room décor. But, our favorite is this chocolate brown and pink ballerina wall décor piece which serves the dual purpose of dainty ballet themed wall décor as well as a hair bow holder.  Measuring 40" long, this piece will look just as lovely on the wall with or without hair bows and can be personalized with your child's name.  The Frog and the Princess is offering 10% off all of their children’s wall art through February (discount taken at checkout) should any of these strike your fancy. Pink Pagodas & China Dolls - Asian Antique Inspired Nursery Decor January 11 2010

[caption id="attachment_1633" align="aligncenter" width="342" caption="Asian Inspired China Doll Toile Nursery with Canopy"]Asian Inspired China Doll Toile Nursery Decor[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1635" align="aligncenter" width="342" caption="China Doll Toile Fabric "]China Doll Toile Fabric [/caption] [caption id="attachment_1636" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Asian Inspired Pink Pagoda Nursery Decor"]Asian Inspired Pink Pagoda Nursery Decor[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1637" align="aligncenter" width="351" caption="Pink Pagoda Fabric "]Pink Pagoda Fabric [/caption] When decorating a nursery, we love a modern look with a touch of nostalgia and culture which is why we love this Asian antique inspired nursery décor from children’s bedding and accessory company Whistle and Wink.  Pretty pink pagodas and lovely antique china dolls dance delightfully on crib sheets, quilts, and elegant canopies.  The prints mix modern colors with Asian antique imagery that perfectly mixes the old with the new.  To achieve this, Whistle and Wink uses hand-craftsmanship of tufting, quilting, and embroideries to adorn their bedding and accessories as well as their impeccable eye for Asian details. For example, beautiful black and white China Doll toile print is embroidered with blossoms.  The coordinating quilt is made of the same China Doll toile with scattered handcrafted embroideries colored in a delicate garden scene. What is especially darling is you can get a matching China doll toile canopy to create an even more elegant look.  The canopy is made with the same China Doll toile as the bedding with handmade pink tassels dangling from the corners. And, the window valences have cute embroidered nightingales perched on each corner. For a softer color scheme, take a look at the Pink Pagoda print.  The baby bundle of this print comes with a hand tufted bumper with the pink pagoda print on one side and white patches of beautifully crafted embroideries and appliqués on the other. As we said, Whistle and Wink has an impeccable eye for detail. Their coordinating Pink Pagoda quilt was inspired by traditional Chinese embroideries and is combined with beautifully crafted American stitch samplers.  Both the Pink Pagoda and China Doll toile prints come in “baby bundles” (i.e. crib sheet, bumper, and quilt) as well as bedding sets for a girl’s room.  We are going ga-ga over the use of traditional handmade sateen Chinese closures, called frog closures, that bring that genuine Asian touch to the on the China Doll duvet cover. Designed by Diane Hughes, Barbara Vaughn and painted by Eric Karl Anderson, this room was decorated for the York Show House in Maine and published by Better Homes and Gardens.  The room was designed with gorgeous shades of pink painted in thick horizontal stripes throughout these little girls' bedroom. What makes this room work so well is the modern wide stripes in classic colors of pink wall paint juxtaposed against romantic styled white furniture and decor.  The rounded corners on the bed and dresser soften the angularity of the stripes.  In particular, the white round wall mirror looks stunning on the wall.  And, the white wicker furniture adds to the coziness of the room.  How fun! Sweet as Candy Pink for Decorating Girls' Rooms - Delicious! December 04 2009

[caption id="attachment_1353" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Pink Damask Bedding and Striped Wall Paint"]Pink Damask Bedding and Striped Wall Paint[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1354" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Classic Pink Decor with Candy Striped Walls"]Classic Pink Decor with Candy Striped Walls[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1355" align="aligncenter" width="560" caption="Pink Striped Girl's Quilt with Lavender and Green"]Pink Striped Girl's Quilt with Lavender and Green[/caption] Yes, there is so much pink in girls' room decorating.  But, that is simply because it is so fun and such a versatile color with which to decorate.  These three delicious decor sets from luxury kid's room and baby nursery decor retailer Rosenberry Rooms inspired our article title - or maybe it was the thought of holiday sweets :).  Either way, you cannot go wrong with these sweet as candy pink decor sets! We love damask as a way to bring a classic look to a kid's bedroom.  But, in order for it not to feel so heavy, a bright color is needed.  That is why we love this damask print bedding highlighted with green, pink, and white candy striped bed skirt and accent pillows.  The pink and white striped wall paint is easy to recreate with a little tape on the wall and a steady hand.  Put the icing on the cake with a few hanging wall letters or wall decals and a candy striped rug. If you prefer something a bit more classic, consider toning down the colors with a soft gray or toning down the patterns with a classic rose pattern as is featured in the second decor set above in the chair and rug.  The pink bedding set is by Oopsy Daisy (known for their children's wall art) and New Arrival's Inc.  The vertical candy striped wall helps bring height to the space which is helpful given the wide dresser and bed in the room. Finally, the bright green, white, and pink candy striped girl's bedding in the third set screams sweet as sugar!  Balance is brought to the room with the soft lavender wall paint and sage green rug.
