For those moms longing for the simplicity of times long ago, consider bringing back handmade dolls. We’ve seen so many darling designs as of late. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Apple of My Eye Organic Modern Doll - Petit Collage"]organic modern doll[/caption] San Francisco based Petit Collage has a 100% organic cotton and wool felt modern rag doll. This cutie called “Apple of My Eye”, would look lovely on a little girl’s bed. We love the bright green and red color combo, too. You can always count on Etsy when it comes to gorgeous handmade goods.  Jane Foster Designs, based in the UK has created a DIY package where you can make your own screen printed fabric doll. She sends you all the materials and you are good to go. For something a bit more classic, see Canadian Les Petites Mains handmade tag dolls. This doll looks so elegant with her slim arms and legs reminding us of a dancer. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="456" caption="Louise Soft Handmade Doll - Les Petites Mains"]classic handmade doll[/caption] The handmade doll trend does not have to be limited to little girls. These cute animal dolls by Etsy seller Sleepy King are just adorable.  Choose from squirrels, bunnies, dachshunds, and more. Your little boy is sure to appreciate a friend with which to cuddle. And, Mr. Pennyapple, sold by Etsy seller PiggyHatesPanda in Santa Cruz, CA, is a customizable doll with beautiful hand embroidered details. A Moroccan Wall Stencil Pattern with Vintage Touches Make this Nursery Shine March 26 2012 1 Comment

Of course we are suckers for stunning wall decor and this nursery has it! We are going ga-ga over the Moroccan stenciled wall pattern behind the white crib. We love how the pattern frames the crib bringing striking contrast to the room. Mom found the wall stencil pattern on Etsy and painted the wall first in a darker coral (Hopeful by Sherwin Williams) and then stenciled in the lighter color (Amour Pink by Sherwin Williams). But, wait! There's more. We love the ceiling poms that hang playfully over the nightstand in the corner. They bring levity to the room that might otherwise be weighed down by a lot of wood. Speaking of wood, how sweet are the wooden wall letters that sit upon the nightstand adding that personal touch? Finally, the wall stencils are not to be outdone by the collection of wall frames Ariella's mom collected, painted, and arranged into a visually appealing collage across from the crib. While the styles span styles such as antique, vintage, and modern as well as shapes like ovals, circles, squares and rectangles, painting the frames one color bring cohesion that soothes the eye. Head over to Project Nursery to get all the details on how mom put this nursery together. Out with the Old, in With the...Old? Vintage is Back with a Vengeance January 05 2012

The year 2012 is barely off the ground and we’re already seeing some fabulous trends emerging for nurseries everywhere! Inspired by the traditions and customs of simpler times, moms and dads are going vintage with their nursery décor. We’ve found some incredible design elements that will bring a sense of nostalgia to your nursery without compromising the modern conveniences or the safety of your wee ones. [caption id="attachment_4746" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="This beautiful bedding is reminscent of popular dress patterns of the 1920s."][/caption] Serena & Lily is a company that is well-known for stunning bedding and room décor, and their Collette bedding collection doesn’t disappoint. Designers looked back almost 100 years to find the inspiration for this bedding. French dress prints from the 20’s served as the influence for this gorgeous crib set with its quirky, vintage look that is updated with a contemporary pink/gray color combination. While this collection embraces the look of nurseries past, rest assured that the linens were made with high-quality cotton sateen. A retro look and modern luxury? Sounds like a win-win to us! [caption id="attachment_4747" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Extraordinary details set this crib apart."]Poster Iron Crib from Posh Tots[/caption] The perfect vintage bedding demands an equally-appealing bed, don’t you think? Safety standards for cribs have changed drastically over the years, so this is one area where authentic vintage may not by the best route. Luckily, vintage-look cribs are popping up everywhere. One of our favorites is this poster iron crib from Posh Tots. The intricate detailing is positively swoon-worthy and reminiscent of cribs from long ago. The stationary sides and varying mattress positions will save your back and give you peace of mind, as will Posh Tots’ guarantee that the crib meets all current safety standards. [caption id="attachment_4748" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="This super-creative design element won't break the bank."]Vintage Nursery Decor[/caption] Now, on to the décor! We love this idea found on Design Dazzle. A mom scored some darling vintage dresses from a clothing store that was shutting down and, with the help of some twine, added softness and dimension to her daughter’s walls. So clever! This is proof that designing a nursery with a vintage theme does not have to break the bank! Shop your local flea market for some inspiration and adorable accents. Adding vintage touches to your nursery is just one way to personalize your little one's room. For more fantastic ideas for nursery decor, see our customer photos.

As Little Crown worked with on the nursery design with their client, two themes took shape - a very beautiful shabby chic nursery, and individual pieces that together, lent themselves to a vintage nursery theme.  Little Crown decided on chic Newport Cottages furniture and then went on to choose colors. They loved the idea of green, but couldn’t find the right fabrics and bedding for their vision. So, they created custom crib bedding with coordinating pillows, changing pad covers, and window treatments. Since the client also wanted the nursery to double as a guest room, Little Crown added a sleeper sofa, and a side table that could act as a night stand. From the custom crib bedding to the perfect shade of green nursery paint, the beautiful lighting fixture and the blackout window treatments, Little Crown made sure that it all worked together to create a gender neutral nursery any baby would love. Peace, Love & Flower Power for a Vintage Themed Nursery October 01 2009

[caption id="attachment_834" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Peace, Love, & Flower Power for a Vintage Themed Nursery"]Retro Baby Bedding & Decor with Flower Power[/caption] Baby boutique designer Bananafish is always so creative and they have done it again.  This modern take on the 70's brings nostalgia to any nursery - particularly those of us moms born in the 1970's.  Suited for a baby girl, we felt this nursery served as great inspiration for unique nursery colors and a one-of-a-kind vintage nursery theme.  Bright and sunny blues, oranges, and pinks quickly bring a smile to your face.  And, the brightly-colored with modern font L-O-V-E baby quilt brings the baby blanket well into this century.  The white baby furniture makes the bright colors pop particularly nicely. The nursery wall decor is just precious and shouldn't be hard to find. The flowers scream girl power!  Flower wall decals and wall stickers come in many styles and you're bound to find some you like.  The ones displayed will be helpful in creating little Austin Powers fans. Although somewhat hidden in the photo, the creative use of nursery wall hangings to spell love is clever and we like how they are positioned vertically down the wall.  You could also consider painting lettered wall stencils to create a similar look. The Raggedy Ann doll in the corner and the retro I love rock n' roll guitar add the finishing touches to this vintage themed nursery. The baby mobile and a few of the other items are at Target at a nice price. See our other nursery theme finds for more ideas.
