Wow! Loving this Unique Nursery Shelving Idea May 09 2013[caption id="attachment_4957" align="aligncenter" width="512" caption="Loving This Unique Nursery Storage Idea"][/caption] This combination of nursery shelves as a way to create a decorative wall piece and serve as a functional storage solution is simply too beautiful not to share. Simply Yvonne provides a stunning view of these cute shelves in her baby's nursery and we're oh-so-glad she did! A yellow-green tinged wall paint provides a neutral background for the bright white shelves, perfectly spaced to create a delightful montage of baby related eye-candy. Each of the gorgeous little dresses in and of themselves create visual interest, let alone the collection of frames and stuffed animals along the shelves. Your eyes catch sight of the gorgeous photography of her little one and the related mementos. Books, standing picture frames, a piggy bank and more make each shelf that much more interesting. We also love the lime green Japanese lantern peeking out from the ceiling above. If you have a small space or your baby's room lacks a closet, this is a great way to improvise without sacrificing any aesthetic. Thanks for the idea, Simply Yvonne! We go Bah-Bah over Sheep Nursery Décor April 19 2013One of the sweetest classic themes in nursery décor is the quintessential little lamb. So classic. So perfect for your little one. We just couldn’t help taking notice of so many beautiful baby nurseries incorporating this theme! Aside from being simple and sweet, we appreciate the gender and color neutrality the sheep design element brings to a baby’s room. Since most sheep come in white, you can add almost any accent color of your liking. For example, see this lovely grey and white sheep themed nursery designed for Charlotte in Austin, TX. The rich, elegant furnishings from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child bring a classic touch to a relatively modern color scheme. For a bolder look, consider black and white sheep décor as highlighted by Joni Lay on BHG.com. Bold, black accents such as the lamp and dresser shown in this inspiration board can make quite an impact. And, babies are attracted to high contrast colors which make this nursery that much more attractive. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Baa Baa Black Sheep - Better Homes & Gardens"][/caption] For a softer, more classic look, see how entertaining and lifestyle expert Jenny Steffens Hobick used pale blue and classic lamb décor from Pottery Barn Kids to decorate her lamb themed baby room. We especially like the lamb rocker—just darling! [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="483" caption="Emma's Nursery - Jenny Steffens Hobick"][/caption] And, weeDECOR has several sheep wall decal designs to help augment your nursery décor. Our jumping sheep wall decal has three little sheep jumping over fences onto blades of grass. We also have a personalized sheep decal to make your baby’s nursery feel even more unique. Unique Design + Practical Functionality: Loving These Storage Ideas for Kids’ Rooms March 28 2013 1 Comment
Unique design with practical functionality is a match made in heaven, particularly when it comes to kids’ rooms. And what better place to apply this concept than storage? We looked around and found some fabulous kids storage ideas to help you create a one-of-a-kind look and reduce the clutter.
Check out these sugar crates turned into rolling toy storage by design guru Emma of Emma’s DesignBlogg—so clever and so practical. We also like how these wire garden plant holders were converted into wall storage per Apartment Therapy. You can adjust how high to place them on the wall so that little hands can or cannot (depending on the items) reach them.
And, for the DIYers out there, you can use curtains to bring order to a chaotic area. See how designer Caroline Gomez hung curtains to hide little clothes in a makeshift but oh-so-cute mini closet—perfect so that little hands can reach them. Great storage ideas need not be limited to the bedroom. We love this funky collection of wall hooks that can liven up a mud room or entry way. From Land of Nod, the colors are vibrant and the design modern which is sure to bring smiles to kids or adults.
Finally, for organizing the playroom, check out this photo from Elsie Marley showing how you can use tin cans to organize crayons, pencils, markers, glue, and other art supplies. Though we can’t guarantee it, your kids might actually enjoy cleaning up with this set up in place.
Must See! This Striking Baby Nursery with Lime Green & Bright Orange does not Disappoint June 24 2012 3 Comments[caption id="attachment_4908" align="alignnone" width="498" caption="A Modern Nursery with weeDECOR Custom Polka Dot Wall Decals"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_4909" align="alignnone" width="498" caption="weeDECOR Whimsical Tree Wall Decal in a Neutral Baby Room"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_4907" align="alignnone" width="498" caption="An Orange and Green Baby Room with Polka Dot Ceiling Border"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_4906" align="alignnone" width="499" caption="A White Modern Crib with Orange and Green Accents"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_4905" align="alignnone" width="499" caption="Gorgeous, Patterned Crib Sheets in a Modern Nursery"][/caption] We are VERY excited to share with you one of the prettiest nurseries we've seen featuring our nursery wall decals. This bold and beautiful modern nursery features lime green, bright orange, and striking white and yellow against neutral toned paint and furniture to create a baby's room that will make any little one smile. As always, we asked mom where she found her inspiration and how she went about decorating her little one's room to get that stylish look she sought and that you may be seeking, too. Mom tells weeDECOR, "I suppose it started with the bedding. Trying to find baby bedding that is gender neutral and not standard pale green is challenging. I knew I wanted the room to be bright and fun, so when we found the lime green and bright orange bedding, I was thrilled. From there I spent countless hours searching the Internet looking at gender neutral nursery ideas. When I came across a photo with polka dot wall decals on a ceiling on weeDECOR, it was just about re-creating the look in our home's existing color pallet. The fact that weeDECOR was willing to create the custom decals in the sizes, colours, and quantities I wanted was so incredibly helpful, and allowed me to add a few of our own ideas into the design above the moulding." We were so glad we could help mom with a version of our polka dot wall decals that she used near her ceiling. We love the variety of colors and circular shapes that border the room and create that wonderful, whimsical nursery feel. Mom painted the baby room walls with Benjamin Moore's "Ranchwood" and the trim in "Stone Brown". Her furniture is from West Coast Kids in Edmonton, Canada as is her glider, bedding and hanging wall art featuring a lion, monkey, and giraffe. Grandma added her personal touch by making the blanket hanging over the crib. Mom's wall decals are, of course, eco-friendly fabric nursery wall decals by weeDECOR. Mom selected our 6 foot whimsical tree wall decal, and surrounded it with our smiling giraffe, tiger, modern elephant, and lion wall decals. She created a gorgeous ceiling border with a custom version of our polka dot wall decals. Mom further told us, "After looking at so many rooms online, I thought the ones that looked the best used wall decals in a scene as opposed to just placing them on the wall. Additionally, I liked rooms that had different depths and textures on the walls. I felt they had more character. With that in mind, we searched for some jungle themed accessories and found the giraffe, lion and monkey. Now …. what to put above the change table????? The search continues... Thank you again for all your help. It was a pleasure working with weeDECOR. I especially loved it when I opened my package to find out you had sent me a few extra small decals to fill the space between the large decals I had ordered instead of just leaving the gaps blank. That was a nice touch." Thank you, mom, for sharing your gorgeous, modern nursery with our readers.
A Moroccan Wall Stencil Pattern with Vintage Touches Make this Nursery Shine March 26 2012 1 Comment[caption id="attachment_4831" align="alignnone" width="553" caption="An Aqua and Coral Vintage Nursery with Gorgeous Patterned Walls"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_4832" align="alignnone" width="553" caption="Pretty Ceiling Poms Hang over a Nightstand"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_4835" align="alignnone" width="553" caption="Antique Picture Frames Create Stunning Wall CandyAntique Picture Frames Create Stunning Wall Candy"][/caption] Check out this FABULOUS nursery designed by Los Angeles mom of Ariella. Of course we are suckers for stunning wall decor and this nursery has it! We are going ga-ga over the Moroccan stenciled wall pattern behind the white crib. We love how the pattern frames the crib bringing striking contrast to the room. Mom found the wall stencil pattern on Etsy and painted the wall first in a darker coral (Hopeful by Sherwin Williams) and then stenciled in the lighter color (Amour Pink by Sherwin Williams). But, wait! There's more. We love the ceiling poms that hang playfully over the nightstand in the corner. They bring levity to the room that might otherwise be weighed down by a lot of wood. Speaking of wood, how sweet are the wooden wall letters that sit upon the nightstand adding that personal touch? Finally, the wall stencils are not to be outdone by the collection of wall frames Ariella's mom collected, painted, and arranged into a visually appealing collage across from the crib. While the styles span styles such as antique, vintage, and modern as well as shapes like ovals, circles, squares and rectangles, painting the frames one color bring cohesion that soothes the eye. Head over to Project Nursery to get all the details on how mom put this nursery together. For other wall pattern ideas for you baby room, check out this gorgeous pink damask wallpaper, how to use chevron in a nursery, painting wall stripes in your baby's room, and our pretty polka dot wall decals.
Bring the Chic with Chevron in your Baby Nursery January 26 2012 1 CommentI think we owe Missoni and Target a big "Thank You" for reminding all of us about the fabulousness that chevron has to offer in attire and decor. A little bold, a little zany, and totally unexpected, this print is popping up here, there, and everywhere thanks to a popularity boost of late. We've found some cute and creative ideas for moms and dads who wish to indulge in this latest trend. [caption id="attachment_4763" align="alignnone" width="540" caption="Of-the-moment color combination plus of-the-moment print = one gorgeous nursery"][/caption] Let's start with the walls, shall we? Two great trends come together in this gorgeous nursery. The choice of grey and white for the walls somehow manages to make the chevron print look more understated because it allows the yellow to truly stand out. We love that this mom and dad decided to go chevron on one wall only. It keeps the project manageable it you're a do-it-yourselfer. There is something about that buttery yellow that softens the crisp lines of the chevron print. We're swooning over here! [caption id="attachment_4764" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Chevron in the Crib"][/caption] Here is another great example of a grey/yellow/white that incorporates chevron prints. This look is slightly more subtle, as the bold print is kept to the bedding only and the rest of the decor is clean and simple. The crib becomes a stunning focal point of this room, and it certainly deserves the spotlight! This crib bedding by Carousel Designs is absolutely adorable, and the trim on the crib skirt is the icing on the cake. [caption id="attachment_4765" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Chevron is the perfect backdrop for these cute critters."][/caption] Thinking of an animal-themed nursery? This wall decor we found on Etsy would make such a fabulous addition to your wee one's room. Cute little critters seem to leap from a chevron background, and the color combinations are just perfect. Lined up above the crib, what baby wouldn't want to gaze up at these fun prints? This is an easy, affordable way to add chevron to your nursery. [caption id="attachment_4766" align="alignnone" width="540" caption="Make a statement with a chevron rug"][/caption] Can't forget the floors, can we? If you're looking to add some drama to your nursery or kid's room, this fun and funky rug might be the perfect find for you! The colors in this room are absolutely stunning. Who would have ever thought that a palette of turquoise, green, black, and white would produce such gorgeous results? The modern feel of the design elements here is the thread that ties all of the pieces together, and no individual piece seems to scream, "Look at me!" This room is the embodiment of harmonious design. [caption id="attachment_4767" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Interesting colors, interesting prints"][/caption] Here is another fabulous example of a unique color combination coupled with beautiful prints. This mom and dad opted for a kinder, gentler chevron rug. White and pale aqua take turns making their way from top to bottom and the overall look is borderline subtle. Toss is some bright, contrasting colors via linens and wall decor and you have an amazing nursery that has it all! Love this! [caption id="attachment_4768" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="Outfit your wee one in chevron."][/caption] Still hesitant about chevron? We know, we know. It's bold, it can be wild, it's not for everyone. If you can't commit to the use of chevron in your nursery decor, how about a sleeper? Your little one will look absolutely fabulous in this chevron one-piece. Still not sold on chevron after a month or two? No worries, your baby will outgrow it before you can possibly tire of such a fun print. We have so many ideas of both contemporary and traditional nursery decor on our blog. If you are looking for fabulous wall decals to accent the walls of your nursery or kid's room, heck out all that weeDECOR has to offer. For even more design inspiration, visit our Pinterest boards and prepare to be overloaded with fabulous ideas for your nursery or kid's room.
weeDECOR's Top Nursery Decorating Trends of 2011 December 25 2011Curious? We were, too! So we tracked down the top trends in nursery decorating for 2011. See what we've found! 5. Minimalism [caption id="attachment_4740" align="alignnone" width="507" caption="This mom and dad create a simple and serene space for their little one."][/caption] A long-time favorite of urban dwellers, minimalistic décor has made its way to nurseries across the US. We’ve seen some absolutely stunning kids’ rooms that scream “serenity.” While minimalistic design may seem easy (just pick one or two things and keep it simple), it actually requires more thought, more research, and more precision. Parents who use this approach to nursery décor must pick from what can be an overwhelming amount of products in an effort to find that one piece of art, that one wall decal, that one piece of furniture to serve as the statement piece for the room. We all know how easy it is to get sucked into the 12-piece nursery bedding set! With a valance! And blanket! And nightlight! And rug! And drawer pulls! And on and on! By paring down to the basic essentials, accenting with one or two design elements and creatively using color, parents are creating refined, sophisticated nurseries for their babies. We particularly like this minimalist nursery we found on ChicCheapNursery. 4. Begging, Borrowing, & Stealing The popularity of Pinterest has absolutely exploded in 2011! This social discovery platform now boasts up to 3 million users, and once you spend an hour (or six!) on the site, it’s easy to see why people are gravitating to pinterest for design inspiration. Moms everywhere are able to “beg” for feedback, “borrow” a concept and modify it to make it their own, and “steal” creative and unique ideas of other crafty parents when designing their nurseries. Pinterest gives parents access to a world of clever, beautiful, and sometimes profound collections of images and tutorials. While you’re on the hunt, visit weeDECOR’s pinterest page to see some of our favorite finds. 3. Form, meet Function in these Darling Nightlights [caption id="attachment_4741" align="alignnone" width="277" caption="This tabletop giraffe nightlight would look fabulous in an animal-themed nursery."][/caption] Nursery nighlights are a must for new parents! There is no better way to avoid fumbling around blindly for the burp cloth while keeping things on the dark side so that baby is compelled to go back to sleep after the feeding. This year, we have come across some absolutely adorable nightlights for nurseries. Gone are the days of the pitiful little plastic piece with exposed light bulb that is relegated to the corner of the room. Moms and dads are integrating decorative nightlights into their themed nurseries. The one above from Jonathan Adler is one of the cutest we’ve seen! This nightlight is more of a design element, and less of an afterthought. 2. Growth Charts [caption id="attachment_4742" align="alignnone" width="420" caption="Track your wee one's growth with our removable, reusable, growth chart wall decal."][/caption] Who is more surprised by the rate that children grow, the parents, or the kids themselves? It’s tough to make that call. Decorative growth charts are all the rage in nurseries and kids rooms this year because parents and children delight in having something tangible to track what is happening before their very eyes. In 2011, we’ve seen some unique variations on the standard paper-version of growth charts. At weeDECOR, we have an adorable collection of growth chart wall decals. Our designs are interactive, meaning the kids can take part in marking their height each year. Our friends over at Petite Lemon offer another interesting spin on this design element with their canvas growth charts. 1. Non-traditional paint colors [caption id="attachment_4743" align="alignnone" width="349" caption="This Canadian mom just said "no" to baby blue."][/caption] This year, we've seen a radical departure from overly babyish nurseries. Some parents are selecting furniture and design elements that grow with the child. So instead of completely revamping the room as the child ages, parents just switch out the accessories and leave the major features the same. One way to accomplish this look is through the use of non-traditional paint colors in the nursery. The nursery above features a sophisticated dove gray wall color. A Canadian mom enveloped her baby's nursery in Benjamin Moore's Collingwood OC-28, but incorporated some child-like accessories. The room doesn't scream "baby," but isn't overly mature, either. This mom, like many others this year, chose a paint color that will see her baby well into the teen years.

Beautiful Bird Wall Decor for your Little One June 06 2010[caption id="attachment_3170" align="alignnone" width="432" caption="Eco-Friendly Modern Bird & Flower Wall Art by Children Inspire Design"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_3171" align="alignnone" width="370" caption="Bird on a Branch Modern Wall Print by Children Inspire Design"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_3172" align="alignnone" width="389" caption="Nature Themed Spanish Wall Cards by children Inspire Design"][/caption] We love the collection of children's artwork by designer Rebecca Peragine and her company Children Inspire Design. Even more to love is the fact that her art is created with recycled papers, scraps, and earth-friendly inks. We really like her standout modern bird collection shown here in two styles – one of a modern wild flower garden and birds wall print in soft blues, muted browns, and soft reds and this too cute birds on a tree branch in soft blue made out of a paper collage. These modern wall décor pieces come in both 8”x10” and 11”x14” and would look lovely in your contemporary baby nursery. For your older tot, get her started early on her language skills with these language wall decor cards available in English, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, French, German, Swedish and Hebrew. Ms. Peragine uses a similar modern style of design of the birds, trees, and flowers in her wall prints to help teach your child Spanish numbers (who knew “buhos” was “owl” in Spanish? Extra credit for you!). The wall cards also come in nature and farm animal themes. They are created with recycled cardstock, soy ink, and packaged with biodegradable materials. Ms. Peragine founded Children Inspire Design to combine her passion for global design with her desire to teach children. Her line of stylish and culturally diverse wall art, wall cards, posters and stationary will make any little one’s room shine. Unforgettable Elephant Wall Décor for Your Little One April 01 2010[caption id="attachment_2241" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Neutral, Grey Elephant Wall Decor for a Child's Room"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_2242" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Playful Elephant Wall Hanging for a Playroom"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_2243" align="aligncenter" width="249" caption="Orange, Classic Elephant Wall Decor for Kids' Rooms"][/caption] Decorating your baby room walls with elephants will bring a lifetime of smiles. With so much personality, elephants are a natural way to bring life to your nursery and Pure & Honest Kids has a really cute selection of elephant wall decor. Elephant décor can stand on its own for a touch of whimsy here and there. Or, use elephant wall décor to accent a circus, safari, jungle, or zoo themed baby room. Take this collage-style gray elephant wall hanging by artist Maria Carluccio. It is a canvas, digital reproduction created by children’s wall art company, Oopsy daisy, in San Diego. The neutral grays and browns in this elephant wall print would work well for a gender neutral nursery or a baby room with modern decor. The canvas is stretched by hand over a wood frame with a decorative edge, so you don’t need a frame. With more of a playful, caricature look with red, green, and yellow rings, this elephant wall print would be a fun addition to a colorful and lively circus themed playroom. Imagine this cute elephant smiling down on children at play. This framed elephant wall print from Renditions by Reesa is printed on paper and mounted on a wood frame with distressed finish. You can coordinate with matching monkey and giraffe for a safari look. Or, try this whimsy elephant wall canvas also from Renditions by Reesa. An original design hand painted on 16" x 20" canvas, this hand painted elephant wall piece comes in modern orange, gray, and light blue that surround a traditional styled elephant. These colors are great for a modern baby boy’s room. This elephant painting is a gallery wrapped canvas so you don’t need a frame. Also see the matching Whimsy Owl and Whimsy Hippo canvases for baby’s first art collection. See our other cute elephant finds such as our elephant wall decals, this beautiful bohemian elephant nursery bedding, this modern, elephant themed nursery, and this gorgeous elephant wall hanging made of a paper collage.

Create Elegance with Vintage Barbie Wall Prints February 08 2010[caption id="attachment_1879" align="aligncenter" width="350" caption="Vintage Provencale Barbie Wall Print by Robert Best for PoshTots"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1880" align="aligncenter" width="350" caption="Vintage Ilona Barbie Wall Print by Robert Best for PoshTots"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1881" align="aligncenter" width="350" caption="Vintage Veronica Barbie Wall Print by Robert Best for PoshTots"][/caption] When writing weeDECOR, it’s difficult to know when, where, or how nursery decorating inspiration will strike. Interestingly, this article, as the ballet wall art one a few days ago, was also inspired by memories of my grandmother’s house. During our frequent visits to her home years ago, my grandmother kept my sisters and I entertained with my mother’s childhood toys – particularly, her Barbie dolls. At that time, I remember thinking of Barbie’s clothes as “old” as opposed to the more appropriate term “vintage”. Memories of what I now view as a seemingly endless trunk of gorgeous evening gowns, beautiful wide-brimmed hats, and cute boy short swim suits made me smile upon finding these limited edition vintage Barbie wall prints from PoshTots. Eight in total, these signed and numbered wall prints feature Barbie in stylish haute couture outfits that would add elegant vintage decor to any baby girl nursery or girl's room. Drawn by designer Robert Best, who you may have seen on Project Runway, choose a bobbed, red-headed vintage Barbie wall print in a blue, French provecale dress gown and long white gloves or a blond Ilona Barbie print in a knee-length white floral dress and matching wide-brimmed hat perfect for attending a tea party. An especially beautiful Veronica Barbie wall print dressed in a sheek black evening gown lined at the bottom with fur (faux, of course) would also look lovely. You can get these Barbie wall prints with gold-leaf frames, made by Larson-Juhl, to complete your elegant, vintage look. And, since vintage is in, your little girl may appreciate the “old” Barbie clothes more than you did as a child. Charmingly Illustrated Lion, Cow, & Zebra Wall Prints for Kids January 26 2010[caption id="attachment_1752" align="aligncenter" width="346" caption=""Z is for Zebra" Illustrated Pink Wall Print for a Kid's Room"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1753" align="aligncenter" width="346" caption=""Roar" Illustrated Green Lion Wall Print for a Kid's Room"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1754" align="aligncenter" width="346" caption=""Moomy Love" Pink & Lavender Illustrated Cow Wall Print for a a Girl's Nursery"][/caption] We were recently introduced to the charming illustration style of Kim Siebold Studios -- perfect for a baby nursery or kid’s room. From Buffalo, MN, Kim tells us she has been drawing and using her creative energy to keep her artistically busy for 38 years (not counting the additional 2 years to learn how to hold a crayon). She draws her inspiration from everyday life and has recently begun selling her wall prints on Etsy including these darling zebra, lion, and cow wall prints. We like the mottled color design elements Kim uses in her wall prints. Her use of this sponge paint-like techniques form an array colors that bring the soft, childlike feel we crave to her illustrations. Her "Z is for Zebra" wall print incorporates this element as the mottled colors of pink and white envelop her modern zebra caricature. The zebra is cute, in and of itself, and is punctuated with a modern font-styled Z for a fun interpretation of animals and the alphabet. Her “Moomy Love” pink, brown, and lavender cow wall print uses that same sponge paint-like style detailed with polka dots. Perfect for a little girl’s room or nursery, the white-spotted mom and baby cows would add nice detail to a farm animal themed room. In her “Roar” lion wall print, Kim uses a similar polka dot motif but with more of a pure, illustrated style that lends itself to a sharper look. “Roar” the lion also comes in super cute “Meow” the cat and “Woof” the dog if you are seeking other animal images. Reasonably priced at $17 per wall print, it’s hard not to go wrong with these animal cuties.
Cute Custom Wooden Wall Letters Calling for your Creativity January 17 2010[caption id="attachment_1675" align="aligncenter" width="326" caption="Brown & Pink Wooden Wall Letters "][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1676" align="aligncenter" width="326" caption="Bright Lime Green Wooden Wall Letters"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1677" align="aligncenter" width="311" caption="Pink, Orchid, Mint, & Baby Maize Wooden Wall Letters"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1678" align="aligncenter" width="325" caption="White Wooden Wall Letters with Hunter Green Satin Ribbons"][/caption] Wall letters are a timeless classic in nursery and kid’s décor. We like them because you are only limited by your own creativity – or what you can’t find on the Internet. According to Oxford Dictionaries, there are at least one quarter of a million distinct words in the English language and we’re guessing that doesn’t include some legitimate kid-friendly wall words such as Bibbidi, Bobbidi, and Boo. So, unleash your creativity and use wall letters to personalize your baby’s nursery with his/her name or monogram, to memorialize your favorite quote, to decorate with the alphabet, or to highlight inspirational words. Family owned Alphabet Boutique specializes in creating custom, economically-priced, wooden hanging wall letters to help turn your creative wall word ideas into reality. Their wall letters are ½” thick, giving you nice depth for the wall, and you can get them in heights ranging from 6 to 12 inches. Alphabet Boutique offers you over thirty paint colors for your wooden wall letters and covers the gamut of popular baby shades like pink, blue, and green as well as modern orange, chocolate brown, and sage. In addition to color and size, you can specify font and hanging options. Choose from cute ribbons for hanging in satin, organza, gingham, or grosgrain fabrics in almost as many ribbon colors as paint. For a less ornate look that might work better in many boys’ rooms, you can choose simple brass hooks for your wall letter hangings. For the more daring, order unpainted wall letters. It isn’t too hard to create decorative stripes that perfectly match the décor in your kid’s room. All you need are your paint colors and a little painter’s tape. Here’s how: 1) Start with a white primer. 2) Paint your wall letters in the color of your choice using an acrylic or latex based paint. 3) When they are completely dry (wait a couple days to be safe), use painter’s tape to create stripes across the wall letters taking care to wrap the painter’s tape around the entirety of the letter. 4) Paint around the painter’s tape and wait to dry. 5) Remove the painter’s tape. Voila - beautiful, striped wall letters for your child's room. See our other articles for more decorative wall letter ideas.

Cute & Clever Fold-Up Bird, Owl, & Car Growth Charts January 06 2010[caption id="attachment_1598" align="aligncenter" width="439" caption="Fold-Up Pink Bird and Tree Wooden Growth Chart"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1600" align="aligncenter" width="440" caption="Fold-Up Green and Yellow Car Wooden Growth Chart "][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1601" align="aligncenter" width="427" caption="Fold-Up Blue and Orange Owl Growth Chart "][/caption] We love home décor products that combine beautiful design and clever functionality which is why we love these kids’ growth charts from Tree by Kerri Lee. Kerri Lee-Sensiba, owner and designer of Tree by Kerri Lee, prides herself on original baby gifts, nursery decor, and room accessories for children. She describes her style as simple yet sophisticated, vintage-inspired yet modern. Her products are handmade in a design studio along the Delaware River in New York. Her wooden growth charts, featured above, are cleverly designed so that they can be folded at a hinge and closed with the turn of a latch of the wooden figure at the top. Ta-Da! Your growth chart is now stylish wall décor. You can write directly on the wood with a marker and there's enough room to track the growth of more than one child. The growth charts measure about 14 " at their widest point, 44" long when open, and 24" long when closed. They sell for $84. For a girls’ room, choose from a bird or butterfly on a tree growth chart. For a boys rooms’, she has a cute green and yellow car growth chart on a traffic sign. And, for a gender neutral themed kid's room, there is a darling blue and orange owl growth chart on a tree. We also like many of her other clever kids décor items such as the animal face clocks (blue bear, brown and orange monkey, and pink bunny) where the animals’ eyes are at 10 am and 2 pm. And, her precious lamb and elephant asleep/awake door knob hangings would be a great baby gift for a mom-to-be decorating a nursery.

Oh, the Places You'll Go! Travel-Inspired Alphabet Animal Wall Decor November 02 2009[caption id="attachment_1092" align="aligncenter" width="464" caption="C is for Camel - Marrakesh Inspired Nursery Wall Decor"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1097" align="aligncenter" width="464" caption="W is for Whale - Massachusetts Inspired Nursery Wall Decor"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1105" align="aligncenter" width="464" caption="E is for Elephant - Thailand Inspired Nursery Wall Decor"][/caption] We've been seeking creative ideas for modern, travel-themed kid's decor and happened upon the brilliant work of designer Jennifer Hill of JHill Design. Trained at the Massachusetts school of art in design, her clean, modern aesthetic is delightfully applied to calendars, cards, and prints. Her wall art is particularly intriguing as it is inspired by the places she'd like to visit - hence, our aptly titled article from the popular Dr. Seuss book "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" We've chosen three wall prints to feature here. The first, "C is for Camel", is a gorgeous camel silhouette drawing filled with a pattern inspired by Marrakesh, Morocco. Moroccan style decor is a new trend in home decorating that you should consider for a baby nursery or kid's room due to its combination of earthy hues and bright, eye-popping colors like the purple, orange, and yellow colors in the camel. The Massachusetts themed W is for Whale wall print gets its inspiration from the lovely area of Cape Cod, known for its blues and grays. Enhanced, with a paisley-like pattern with what can be seen as mini-bubbles blown by the whale. Finally, the E is for Elephant print is a bold combination of bright blue, orange, and purple inspired by the style of Thailand. The Thai are famous for their bright-colored silks and dark wood furniture. The style and color palette of this print is probably most appropriate for decorating a boy's room. Jennifer has designed a wall print line for the entire alphabet featuring more of our favorite nursery animals such as deer, bear, giraffes, and my personal favorite, "A is for Aardvark". The wall prints are printed on photo matte paper and measure 9"x9". They come unframed or framed for $25 and $50, respectively. See our other articles for more unique wall hanging finds for your nursery or kid's room.

Marvelously Modern Monkey Wall Decor October 15 2009[caption id="attachment_963" align="aligncenter" width="297" caption="Space Monkey Wall Canvas for Kids' Rooms"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_964" align="aligncenter" width="297" caption="Biking Monkey Wall Canvas for Kids' Rooms"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_965" align="aligncenter" width="299" caption="Snowboarding Monkey Wall Canvas for Kids' Rooms"][/caption] Monkeys are a popular theme in today's nursery and kid's room decorating and it is easy to see why. They are oh-so-cute to us moms and delight our wee ones as well. No need to go all out with bedding, valences, rugs, and the like. Keep it simple and just focus on wall accents or wall decor to get that playful look in your baby's room. We found these fabulous monkey canvas wall hangings created by artist Marnie Vollenhals. Marnie sells her work at J.AustinRyan, the company she cleverly named after her three sons Jacob, Ryan, and Austin. Ms. Vollenhals comes from a family of artists and describes her art as fresh and new with its clean lines and bright colors. Her hand-painted designs are a combination of modern, retro, and classic style art. If you are not inspired by the jungle, rainforest, or safari angle, consider the paintings featured here depicting out-of-the-box monkey fun. These monkeys aren't jumping on the bed. These modern monkeys are snowboarding, biking, and taking off in rocketships. The rocketship painting would be a unique and creative way to further embellish your space themed nursery. The brightly multi-colored monkey canvases are a great way to bring liveliness to your nursery walls. And, they will work well should you be decorating a color-themed nursery or child's room using blue, red, green, or orange. The canvases would also bring life to a playroom. Each piece of wall art is painted with acrylic paints and are gallery wrapped on 100% reclaimed canvas. The pieces are 20" x 20" and sell for $140 each.
